I didn't know there was a slow movement setting. I've been playing it with a 360 controller, and it's actually really nice to have the variable movement speed. Combat makes more sense, too, with the button layout, although it's still pretty rough and generally worth reloading over.
I'm starting to see the value in automatic mantling; when you have to run away from a threat, it's pretty cool to be able to just glide over every obstacle. Feels a bit like Mirror's Edge and very thiefy (if not Thiefy). I still wish for proper jumping and mantling, but ideally i think it should exist alongside the "traverse" button.
Also, I have encountered a few instances of sound propogation working properly. Doors seem to block it out for the most part, while the windows that you can jimmy open basically do not.
I just finished the third mission, and while this game definitely has its rough patches, I'm still enjoying it overall. My biggest complaint is probably the repeating dialogue, which can be easily fixed, I imagine. The points-of-no-return are pretty maddening sometimes, too, although when I replay the missions I'll be more aware of them. The House of Blossoms took way less time than I was hoping because I accidentally triggered the progression too early :erg: The game also feels pretty linear so far, except for the city, which is awesomely wide open and seems to be getting larger with every mission. I could easily spend hours exploring it, and it's really starting to remind me of the strange architecture and random hidden passages in the original games.

Can anyone confirm what factions are involved compared to the original TG? Do we still have a supernatural aspect to it as well like the Pagans or is it just pure Thieving?

There are no factions from the original. It's all of the rich vs poor crap we've seen in BS: Infinite and Dishonored except more hamfisted. The guards are now all mustache twirling villains as well.

I've seen my first glitch. A guard walking in front of the clocktower just started rapidly spinning in place, like his AI couldn't figure out which way to go. Wish I had FRAPS going.
Bit like (

In Chapter 4 Garrett makes a reference to the Trickster.

There is still a heavy supernatural background setting to the game, and the game is riddled nice references to the factions of the old days.
You revisit at least two central locations from TDP in the main campaign, recreated with all the symbolism and emblems tied to their respective factions.
There is also a lot of visual references to the mechanists (which can lead to a bucketload of interesting theories), and some more subtle references to the pagans (flavour texts speak of an isolated "swampfolk" with supernatural vegetation).
Garrett mentions the trickster at least once in the campaign, and refers to "The Old Gods" in cutscenes (possibly impying The Master Builder by the context).I don't see how people can say that only the street names were kept from the original games.

AHAHAH YES. In that exact same place too. That's hilarious, jesus.
In other news, I've decided against using the custom difficulty stuff for my first playthrough. I think if I were to replay it they would add a nice challenge, but for a first playthrough trying to explore everything and experience as much of the game as possible, it's just not balanced well for the slow movement or expensive equipment. So I'm going to start over on regular master, which seems like it should provide a decent challenge at times anyway (for instance, I don't think enabling focus, using regular movement speed, or having regular equipment prices will make the bank heist any less of a pain in the ass). Still going with the minimal HUD though, just object highlighting and the loot/journal/location popups.

It's in the custom difficulty settings when you start a new game. I'd imagine it would limit your movement to a certain speed whether you're using analog movement or not.

That's one of the settings I didn't bother with and it sounds like it breaks things so it's probably best avoided.

How is it that I'm 17 hours in and I only now realized you can upgrade your Focus skills? :p
Just finished Chapter 5, loved it. To say too much about this mission would be to spoil it, but the story really shifted into high gear here and for the first time it feels not only like my motivations are clear, but I also genuinely care about how this turns out.
