How is it that I'm 17 hours in and I only now realized you can upgrade your Focus skills? :p
Just finished Chapter 5, loved it. To say too much about this mission would be to spoil it, but the story really shifted into high gear here and for the first time it feels not only like my motivations are clear, but I also genuinely
care about how this turns out.
In response to the first part of that, didn't a dev recently say that the game was about 8 hours long? I'm 13 or 14 hours in and haven't started Chapter 3 yet! Some of these city sections are massive.

A friend of mine told me that he just finished the main story and it took him about 8-9 hours. He didn't do any of the side missions though, and apparently there are quite a lot of those.

If you do the side missions, I could see it taking 8-9 hours to get to the story mission in Chapter 2.

I haven't done many of the sidemissions. Only 2 I think. And one Basso job. But I've spent plenty of time exploring the city. And also I'm reading pretty much everything and trying to explore all the areas in the missions.

I got a copy of Dishonored on the same day as Thief, and I have to say the difference in initial reaction is quite striking.
With Thief I'm trying to persuade myself that maybe it's not that bad, and at least some of it feels familiar in the stealth department, but the whole ambiance is a bit broken I'm afraid.
Almost immediately Dishonored felt more engaging and consistent with itself. It's simply a more polished product. Thief is very rough around the edges, despite actually looking nicer.
I wouldn't say it was mediocre, but they've ended up shipping something that's OK rather than great. It's nice that there ended up being another Thief game, but it's just not up to the standard of other games that have been shipped recently, or at least the ones I've played.

You're playing with Focus
and you like the escape sequences? I'm sorry, you've lost your Thief Forums posting privileges effective immediately.

He can have mine. I don't have the game so I'm recusing myself from there for a while.

Thiefgen is like a leper colony. Who would miss access?

So I started over on default master difficulty a few days ago (with the same HUD options, so still no focus) and it's taken 16 hours to get most of the way through the main mission of Chapter 4 (I've just ridden the elevator after the bit with Basso). So I still presumably have all the between chapter sidequest stuff to do before I get to chapter 5, too. No idea how anyone is beating this in 8-9 hours.

Racing. Like twits.
Garrett's new outfit is really lame actually. Everyone else has cool outfits. His is embarrassing.
