How do you say that
I don't know, it's Polish for inn. I once was driving through Poland and these signs with Zajazd were everywhere. I find this word funny because it sounds like nayezd which is Russian slang word for insult/offense.

But actually, I'm not all that concerned about the game's mechanical problems, they seem bearable at least barring the contextual jump. But the writing. The writing.
The writing. Those early trailers weren't promising, and the reviews have told me it's exactly what it seemed to be. The writing team seems to have been huffing NO2, or just lacks talent. Whatever it is, all said and done, I admire Thief for its universe and narrative above everything else, and it looks like in this instance it's taken a tumble down a hill of shit and landed in a river of sparkling unicorn piss. No thanks.
EM should have let the DX:HR team have a crack at the narrative. They knew what they were doing.

This is very true. While HR did occasionally get a little heavy handed and one-noted at times, the character and story were at least compelling and fairly well written. Thief? I'm not gonna say it's all bad, but there are scenes where it dips a little too heavily towards bad Goth fan fiction written by a not particularly bright teenager sometime back when The Crow was hitting it big.
The only character that struck me as interesting was The Beggar Queen. The rest are way overdone and kind of obnoxious.
Yeah, I hate myself for making a Crow reference, since it pissed me off to no end when everyone down in Thiefgen brought it up when the clocktower got mentioned. But from what I've seen of the bits and pieces I've seen from the gameplay vids...yeah, it's tragically apt.
It's a mystery to me how EM just about perfectly nailed DX, yet screwed up Thief so badly.

Well, I'm about 3/4 through DXHR at the moment, and I have to say that I find the story
and writing competent but almost totally unengaging. It's partly my fault, I suppose, for not paying enough attention, but nothing about the story ever really compelled me to, and as a result I've been treating the game as basically one challenge room after another. It's still fun, though, so even if Thief's story is a disaster, I expect I'll get some enjoyment out of it.
I do kinda like Sariff and Pritchard, I guess.

Are you folks playing it with KB+M or gamepad? And which one do you find more suitable?

It's entirely your fault.

It's hard to compel people with a myriad of options, as I've recently rediscovered with Invisible War (not that that's the only thing that game lacks). By the time I got back to the trail of whatserface and/or what became of her I had kinda forgot I cared. (and the game kinda did too, I feel). Actually that sentence is applicable to Invisible War and Human Revolution. Then HR's dopey ending
kinda falls out of the sky from nowhere. Neither of them are that bad in essence. Just badly handled to varying degrees.
I think Deus Ex worked at least partly by putting its more linear stuff up front for you to get into a bit better.
