Sports are split by gender because women and men have different levels of athletic capability (sorry, ladies). I don't really see a reason why gaming would require the same sort of separation.
It shouldn't, but if fuckwit gamers are gonna be dicks to the women, then women shouldn't really be put in a position where they have to put up with it. I don't doubt their capability at gaming at all, just their ability to put up with bullshit.
(I'm well aware of why male and females are separated in sports, its interesting though, women who want to join the army and fight hard etc, have to go through the same training and carry the same weight in gear when they march around. Are they being turned into men? I've watched a tv show a few times, I forget what it's called but it tests women who think they're tough enough to do manly men's jobs and it seems more often than not they can. Can we really treat women equally when we make exceptions for them or exclusions so they have an easier time?)

Er, sorry to point this out but Eva is referring to the socialising at refreshment breaks, after the matches etc, not during game-time as you are focussing on. By that logic something like playing on a rugby team isn't social because you're staying in your place in the formation and not talking to anyone, because you're discounting locker-room chats, after-match pints down the pub and so on.
Maybe, and I'd have to agree with you, but he didn't say that. He opened with an insult and said I'm wrong, no explanation as to why. I wouldn't really consider sitting on facebook chatting to people as socialising either, but it kind of is. I guess I'd have to concede that point, but I'm wary of it because I know some of the people who go to events like that and they don't go for the chat, they go to own noobs and thats it. That could be unique to FPS though, or just those people I know.

As has been said already, men and women are separated in sports. why don't you spout bile over the Olympic commission, and every other sport association.
It sucks that something like gaming should come down to it for such silly reasons but then when people like you exist its really not hard to understand why it happens.
Christ, you're a piece of work. Your sports analogy is invalid, as has been shown to you by two separate people who you won't listen to because you've convinced yourself that your opinion is correct above all else. Then you devolve into your typical nonsensical insults because you've got some sort of grudge against me, I can't figure out what it was, because since your kind develops from spores there was no mom for me to fuck. I mean, what the fuck are you trying to say? That "people like me" are why we have thinly-veiled misogyny? That doesn't make a fucking lick of sense.

I've never seen a situation with the military or with any sort of physical job where the physical requirements were beyond what a woman is capable of. The military requires you to be physically and mentally in shape but it doesn't push your body or mind anywhere near the limits of what the top percentile of human beings are capable of doing. If they did, you'd never be able to recruit more than a few hundred people, tops. Of course, in that case, you'd end up with an all-male military.
The reason it's different in sporting competition is because you're dealing with the very limits of what the body can do. I can throw a baseball around 70mph, and there are plenty of women who can do that as well. But the very best men throw 90-100mph, and no woman is physically capable of doing that. Andy Roddick can serve over 150mph. Maria Sharapova can't hit 130. Roger Federer, who is not known for his strong serve, typically hits his second serve faster than most women can hit their first serve. The only reason sex matters in those cases is because you're reaching the very limits of what the human body is capable of doing. For every day things like the military or physical labor, those limits don't matter.

Uh, for starters, nobody talks with anybody. Unless you can call random shouts of memes and profanities a conversation.
They just didn't speak to you Koki.

So, because something is nerdy you think I don't like it and don't believe it could be socialising? thats weak. It isn't socialising because your eyes are glued to a screen, you arn't actually conversing with people, aside from
Just like no one talks to each other at a theater because it's impolite? Or a club because the music is too loud and you are too drunk to make coherent sentences? Or on a bike ride because you're too busy speeding down a hill?
Or are you one of those people who shows up 5 minutes late and leaves first without saying goodbye? Man you've be missing out all these years, let me tell you...

Thats a bit a dumb argument. What does the top percentile have to do with anything? we're talking about average, and there are very few women I know who could haul hundred pound shells back and forth all day.
And if you think that you never touch on the limits of what the body can do. Maybe nobody is throwing fastballs or sprinting at world records, but the limits are pressed nonetheless. Look up what effect Ranger School has on the students.
