lets discuss thief progression of the way things were suppost to be - by downwinder

i wont stall on this post so lets get to it
thief was first to be dark Camelot ,would have had more magic then dark project had, changing the direction of what we ending up getting
yes thief 1 and 2 are amazing but i think by then scrapping the magic made it limiting by the time part 2 came out as some of the missions were less the par in most people views=double museum missions, also more bare looking levels
then by the time thief 3 came out the direction was pure garrett and nothing else ,yes faction/hammer/keepers/were in game but over all they only guided the progression of levels to a end game level that was even worse then thief 2 witch was worse then thief 1 as far as last levels go
i think if thief 1 would have been more to original idea we would have had a game with more then just one direction as we do now=garrett master thief/aka keeper garrett now
and i don't consider nu thief part of the cannon in anyway,if anything i feel a lot of the idea's for nu thief are stolen from a lot of fan missions i played over the years,at least bits and pieces of then,my example is a fan mission i played a few times where there is a poster that mentions the Barron years before nu thief was even going to be made, and there are lots more examples but i am sure you will be able to spot them, when you play them
the idea that thief is more directed to city life took away alot of the possible forest paths for story, blocking it into something narrow that limits the storyline
that is why from the end of thief 2-thief 3 and even nu thief was boxed into something is wasent ment to be
i hope that new company formed of old looking glass people will go back to pre thief 1 and start a game that has more then one direction
if i feel this board gets the responses that will make me feel its worth going deeper into what story path can be with magic added to game and way less city
and i feel hammer got a bit to much attention in thief 1 and mechs got to much in thief 2,thief 3 was better in the sense that the factions all had a good amount of time, that is one thing that thief 3 has over all thief games, weird huh

As usual, it's very difficult to decipher what you're trying to say, but I think it may be that Thief should have had more magic? There really aren't any indications that the game had more magic elements when it was in "Dark Camelot" form. Check the trailer, it makes mention of fighting the Knights of the Round Table and Merlin, but nothing specifically related to magic:

And just because Thief started out as Dark Camelot, that doesn't mean that's what it was "supposed to be."
Games with magic are a dime a dozen. Thief is a one-of-a-kind stealth game, that partially invented the stealth genre. I'm pretty happy they went in that direction as opposed to some bizarre alternate Arthurian legend story.

king Aurthur father was Merlin, don't get me wrong i love thief games but i think putting direction in one area limited the expansion of thief universe
i think a pre thief 1 would be the best direction to do thief,as to show more of the old times pre city life, more mountains/hills/villages/caves/tunnels/things more with nature, with magic and the classic thief stuff
would be cool to see how and when and why the keepers were formed,of course starting out in a pagan mission as that would be the best way to start a thief game
more downwinders of course as they would be a major point in game to get from one area to another by boat=fan missions proved a ship level can be good
a touch of early info on hammer forming, maybe a bit on the hag from her younger days, filling in gaps from thief 1/gold/2/3
and i am guessing star gate engine is a predecessor to dromed
and video said fight merlins creations=magic
i almost wonder if the brother hood of the hand is a reference to merlin and the knight of the round table that never made it into thief ,so they added one mission in gold = mage towers?,and maybe that is why we never heard anything more on them in thief 2/3

No, according to the legend, Arthur's father was Uther Pendragon. Merlin kind of adopted him when Uther died while Arthur was still young.
