The mission titles are uninspired.
I don't really expect imaginative mission titles from a game called 'Thief'! :p

Yeah, despite the fact it created a whole new genre of video gaming with all that ai recognizing light and sound and stuff, yep, nothing new here.

Heh, it seems no one is taking this thread seriously. You guys are all making half-assed goofy responses.
I'll take a stab at it:
Framed > Framing Lt. Hagan (it was hagan right? sorry, haven't played it in a long time)
Ambush > Ambushed at the Crippled Burrick Pub (or is it 'inn'?)
Eavesdropping > Seems fine to me
Blackmail > not sure, seems ok to me
Trace the Courier > seems fine?
Kidnap > what was this map about? I really need to play thru thief 2 again.:eww: Obviously kidnapping, but of who?
Yeah, okay, I did a sucky job.. but at least they are a little more descriptive than the originals.
I like the other four names, however Masks is kind of a crappy title. That one could use a better name.

Digi's goal is to replace these names with something that doesn't sound like a description. Knowing the missions will be vital to making a clever title that has the quality of the chapter names in a respected well-written novel, as a starting point.
sNeaksieGarrett on 12/4/2008 at 01:20
Yeah, that makes more sense..... but even a little bit more of a descriptive title would be fine too. Like he said, it is just a discussion thread.;)

Description of the title is one thing, and that's fine, description AS a title is what he wants to get away from.
What's happening in Ambush! is that it starts after Garrett was sold out to the City Watch by Sammy. It ends with Garrett fleeing to Shalebridge as a temporary refugee. During the mission he is escaping justice, heading to his apartment, to get the key, to get to Shalebridge through the City gate. He is a Fugitive.
I would say the theme is that he's a Fugitive on the run, so a title should tie into that. He's on the run, on the lam. That's my description in search of a title.

Thankee. I'm feeling, heh heh, inspiratualized tonight.
Looking at those titles, they seem to carry a certain animalistic theme. Strange.
