Really? The entire series lead up to an annoying and awkward fist-fight?
Well, for me it wasn't really the actual fight, but rather the whole feeling of

The Guardian isn't even a boss in that game. All you fight are his henchmen (which are ho hum), then prevent him from arriving.
It's not a "fight" fight per se, but the entire game was building up to that moment where you defeat him, and even if all it took was three left clicks, it was one of the most satisfying moments in gaming for me.
(This might also be due to the fact that I spent like an entire week searching for Rudyom's wand once it became clear what I had to do with it. I'd earlier chucked the thing into the garbage next to Lock lake because I thought it was "unimportant" at the time. Also, at the penultimate moment, I
still couldn't find the damn thing because it was buried under all the detritus of my travels that had collected in my backpack.)
Plus, the result was rendered in bleeding-edge (for 1992) CGI by Denis Loubet. Man, Denis's art rocked. <3

I have to agree with this one.
And the cinematic as well as the location made it even better. It was one of those moments in gaming where a cutscene got me all emotional(to the point where I didn't want to kill the Boss but the game made me do it).

I agree with that, Andarthiel. But I guess I should have just spelled it all out in my own post; who cares about possibly dimming the experience for anyone yet to play the game.

The boss battles in MGS were shit, if only because Kojima couldn't
shut the fuck up and let you get on with it.
Oh joy, another 30 minute long codec babble. Do you mind? I'm trying to kill someone.
MGS isn't for you, then. Go back to Splinter Cell.

Splinter cell was worse (somehow). But at least they didn't interrupt you in the middle of pivotal fights to talk shit in your ear.
Nice job on the assumption, though.

I guess I should've made my point more clear.
Kojima games aren't for you. Go back to... whatever, just get out.

It's funny because it's 100% true.

Thief Dark Project's boss fight (if it can be called fight at all :D ) was nice. Use stealth instead strength.

He's thinking of MGS2, which had a very lengthy tell-all revelation codec sequence at the very end that basically told you how much you sucked and that you were nothing more than a pawn in a game. That's the lengthiest codec call in the entire series I can think of, though, and even that one only lasts maybe 5-10 minutes?
