These aren't exactly new revelations massi...
You've had the truth explained to you. Karras was insane. He believed it was his duty to bring about the Builder's Paradise on Earth. To Karras, that meant using the Mutox to kill all organic life, and replace it with his Builder's Children. Of course, he'd be the last of the imperfect, organic life, if only to catch sight of his Paradise before he himself breathed in the Mutox at some later point - certain that the Builder would reward him.
Why did people follow him? Because he was charismatic. Because he was in the right place at the right time. Because people were tired of the strict rules of the old Hammerite order, and Karras and his Mechanists gave them something that was similar with more perceived personal freedoms.
Oddly enough, all I can think about now is combining the new Dr Who Cybermen with another insane follower of Karras, making for a new Dawn of the Metal Age!

The new revelations I meant is that in Thief DS came out that the Karras's planes were probably a public matter, since there was a recording in one of the victrolas in the museum where he speak to a crowd, fact noticed by jtr7 (many thanks to him, because without his hints, I don't know if this part would ever pull out), while us all, at the end of Thief 2, knew that the total organic destruction were somathing that only Karras knew.

Mass'! Think of it this way, and it won't break with canon: Pre-recorded PROPAGANDA. The followers never heard this speech, they were watching and reacting to something else. I haven't found another explanation that allows this to be in harmony with TMA, yet. We saw Blackheart's mixing board.
It's been suggested by a fan that the intended audience of that recording was for the next generations of Builder's Children in the Builder's Paradise to look back fondly on what Karras did for them.

Interesting.... Your hypotesi took a good way... Maybe the recording were made when the Keepers made hearing the Karras's speech to the whole city, aggregated for the event. Naahh... too joyfull the racket...
I really cannot take a convincing explanation for those buoyant voices.

A sporting event with entertainment.
Half-time at a Rumpleball game? Or that "Summersday Tourney" TMA mentioned?
Sound's recorded with a Mechanist-designed multitrack recorder and mixed on a Mechanist-designed mixing board. (How many tracks does this thing handle, anyway? Looks like a two track.)

With the Karras's voice? :weird:

MIXED! :D
One sound from the arena while someone sat with a viktrola recording device in his/her lap, one sound recorded at Soulforge while Karras preaches through his speakers to an empty room in the seminary section!

Hmm, how about Reproduction? I mean, "When a man slave loves a women slave" seems out of Karras's vocabulary. Or any other creature in the Thief universe for that matter...
