I have just installed Thief Gold and have had no problems playing it on XP(cutscenes and all) however when I want to play other media files on my PC they all crash...I have narrowed the cause of the problem down to a file in the thief directory called lgvid.ax..If I rename it the problem goes away...Is there a fix for this problem????

umm, renaming it?

OK i suppose i should have been a bit more specific...renameing the file to lgvid1.ax causes the media files i have on my PC to play normally but the cutscenes in Thief won't play then..

lgvid.ax caused some media to fail AND BSOD in certain circumstances at random when starting video playback
it's an evil evil evil little piece of shit codec that never worked in the first place
there should be a proper workaround
i've been playing the clips manually (via ffdshow or official indeo codec) from the cd now
