even the ability to read pdf's without you first sending a request to the owner of that file and then having to wait for permission to be grantedThis one isn't true. I checked that and you can still see the content of your walkthroughs and lootlists. As for link to Ascend the Dim Valley there is working link from Google Drive in this mission thread (1st post).

It looks like Google is rolling out this new feature, different GDrives will be affected at different times over the coming weeks. Google informs me on my GDrive that the new security updates will be applies to my files from 13th Sept, giving me a few weeks to work my way through all the affected files and manually remove the security update, so hopefully you guys will never have an issue with the Lootlists and Walkthroughs, but it is yet another problem facing all of us for downloading files and missions.

From what I read you will have a choice how to apply this security update. Looks like you will have a choice to remove security update from all impacted files. More about that (

That's what I have done already, but will everybody else remove the security update on their personal GDrive? It would be nice to think people will but I doubt if everyone will, so I'm still going to have to go through the whole of MbyT and remove/replace all GDrive links.

Send me the link to anything you want an extra backup of, I'm still moving it all over to the Discord.
I also found a method to split up large missions above 100mb into multiple 7z files using 7zip then you can re-compile them. So I'm trying to make a complete Discord archive of all the content I can find. I've currently uploaded about 35gb to discord

I came late to the FM scene so I share your concern, but the Internet Archive is a much better choice than Discord. You can host huge files there, and I've found mod collections for games like Blood and Half-Life. It's intended precisely to preserve online culture from data rot, whereas Discord is first and foremost a spyware dragnet and will probably ban your archive or lock it behind a paywall when they inevitably crack down on people using them as free storage. I've seen it happen to similar services (including Google Drive). If it sounds too good to be true, it's not going to last. Same goes for the Internet Archive actually, although they sometimes provide torrents for their collections.
Redundancy is paramount.
Incidentally, there are far more than 40G of FMs. I found a Google Drive a few years ago containing ~60G, which seems to be the Dark Fate collection. I can't find the Drive any more and Dark Fate looks hard to scrape, so I might put these on the Archive myself. Here are some pastebins in case anyone wants to compare notes. There were also some for Thief 3.

I'm working on archiving all the Thiefmissions download links On Internet Archive that's on Kamyk's Mission by Type Thread list. I'm currently on "Enemies/Factions:- Thieves/Thieves Guild".
Internet Archive DL links aren't fast, but they're sure to last a long time.

Pity someone else isn't helping to manage Thiefmissions; maybe split the costs as well.

Better to still have the links but they take ten minutes to download than losing them entirely. Thanks man.

Hi
I can see you’ve been busy and it’s early days. Well done!
This may be premature but by way of hopefully constructive feedback.
And maybe I've missed a trick or it's all in your future plans. I know little about putting stuff on archive.org, only about downloading/watching movies, so apologies in advance. :D
I envisaged archive.org being used for
uploads of files into a
Thief FM Collection with introductory paragraph containing (perhaps in subgroups) zip files with tags for searching, sorting etc.
But I imagine that by doing a
Web Archive instead of an
Upload, as you are doing, must be easier because you don’t have to upload the zip file yourself. Presumably it’s a straight capture of the specified part of thiefmissions.com by archive.org. Good idea.
If these are historical captures of a website, is it still possible to give tags, and later cross-reference the zips from a
Collection in archive.org?
How will people search?
Opening up archive.org I tried several things like “Thief Fan Missions” etc without luck (though I found other stuff – see (
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151374&page=2&p=2475421&viewfull=1#post2475421) earlier post). Eventually I searched for your name, Noenko. (It’s a good name because there was only one). But even then I almost gave up because it says there are (
https://archive.org/details/@noenko) zero
Uploads.
Only by working across the tabs to the far right and
Web Archives did I (Garrett like) find the treasure. :)
Many thumbnails there show just
(https://www.thiefmissions.com) underneath. Only by hovering do you see something like (
https://web.archive.org/web/20210819103059/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thiefmissions.com%2Fdl%2F76222dffa0d5fe01aa3f3c0263b0a7e2%2Fmansionofchaos.zip) (long address) indicating it’s
mansionchaos.zip.
Although clicking on the thumbnail momentarily brings up a larger version of the particular thiefmissions page it disappears before I can properly read. So I turned thumbnails off to see the full original thiefmission address that the archive came from.
Assuming I know what I’m after, I can use my browser to do a page search for a particular zip in the list of addresses.
However ... after the apocalypse, when thiefmissions, ttlg, etc have all disappeared (sort-of the original scenario of this thread) someone from the future searching archive.org is unlikely to find this group of files, and if they did, they wouldn’t know what it’s about.
Again. Well done!!! :thumb:
