You should be able to use an offline account to save your games.
Didn't know that was possible. Whenever I get around to reinstalling it I'll try that out.

It'll probably pop up with an "OMG! Teh Account are not logged in! J00 can't buy teh DLCs!" warning, but it should work just fine.

Another vote for Vampire: Bloodlines.
I haven't played many new games lately, but I also enjoyed Risen.

Theres a lot of rts games you must have missed. I think Empire total war would be the best of them...

The PS2 was never able to really pull me away from PC gaming because, well it just couldn't.
It may seem weird, but it's able for me now. I don't care much about graphics, just greatly missed action games which required reaction/button mashing/hard boss fights, things like that. I can afford a current gen console, it's just that I'm perfectly satisfied with my PS2 for now. And I like to lie back in an armchair with controller :)

Have you played Trine or Bionic Commando Rearmed yet? They're good old fashioned 2D sidescrollers touched up with nice, modern 3D graphics. They're two of my personal favorites from the last couple of years.

kings bounty (turn-based battles with realtime map) and its sequel armored princess and Men of War (RTS), both micromanagement, are amazingly good PC only titles, complex and time-consuming though but very rewarding.

I wanted to try Men of War but I felt that no matter what it would fall short on CoH. How does it compare?

I haven't been playing many recent games either -- most of my gaming time is going to making Dark Mod stuff, and I'm still pretty far behind the curve -- but what I have liked that hasn't been mentioned:
Mirror's Edge
Sins of a Solar Empire
IL-2 1946
I also want to get ArmA2
Some others I can think of:
Burnout Paradise for race sim
Call of Cthulhu
Viet Cong
Penumbra Overture
Metal of Honor - Airborne
one of the Call of Duty's
Dead Space

Yeah Mirror's Edge is great. Wolfenstein 2009 was pretty good too, but I wouldn't pay $50 for it if I were you.

I wouldn't sell my PS3 if I were you just yet. It's about to really hit its stride.
What makes you say that? I try to think of reasons to get one besides LBP, MGS4, and the God of War repack, but I just can't.
