The engine is actually pretty cool (for adventure games) and it's not theirs.

Have you seen any reviews of this game at all? It's a game by three amateurs released by a third league publisher. The kind of stuff that's never really tested or supported, ends up on shelf in some supermarket, between discount sports shoes and toothpaste, and is eventually bought by people who've hardly ever seen a computer game before. This could easily be a hoax, as far as I can tell.
(
http://www.justadventure.com/) Just Adventure is a well known and long-time running adventure game review site. They wrote a full, real review and gave it a "B":

I can't believe these people got away with this... and note that they haven't just stolen graphics, they've stolen sounds as well.
Listen for obvious Thief sounds in the first 45 seconds of this trailer:

Ah, pity. I really hoped this would turn out to be some silly joke.

o.O
Not one artist among them? Come on, static backgrounds? o.O
They could have at least clipped textures, and used them to build new settings if they were gonna cheat. Doing it that way I could toss off a static background a day.
The sheer Homer Simpson "Doh'ness" of this is too funny/pathetic.

Oh no... :ebil:
The more I read about this game, the more I am realising that this is the first game that I've *really* wanted to play since God knows when... 2001 Wizardry VIII?
Oh my, I have got to play this game... :ebil:

This is the game that really deserves to be pirated because certainly these guys deserve no money for their work.
Or maybe they are genius. The real gameplay is about metagaming trivia where you must find where everything comes from.

They're the P.Diddy's of gaming. Brilliant.

I'm curious as to how they decided to go ahead and rip off all these games.
Dev. A: Man, this is boring! Doing backgrounds is such mindnumbing work!
Dev. B: Hey, I've got an idea! Lets take some backgrounds from other games and just slap em in!
A: Are you sure that's a good idea?
B: Sure! The fans will recognize the references and think it's cool that their favorites have been included!
A: Hm... something about that sounds wrong, but you're the brains here, so OK!

I was looking for posts on the Wintermute forums by SBOVIS relating to the backgrounds.

Hi all,
The graphics are created thus:-
The backgrounds are created in 3D GAMESTUDIO A6 , they are textured, lit and then I place a camera at a certain position and grab a still.
:joke:
That's all I could find though and it's from December 09, 2004.
