Local "Thiefs" stole my motorcycle. - by bikerdude

This isn't sorta strictly thief related, but it did involve some local thief's
Woke up this morning to find a vacant spot where my motorcycle used to be, and yup you guessed it - it had been stolen...
Went round a bunch of the neighbours and no one saw anything, arse. Phoned the police and during the course of the conversation the call center lady rather excitedly said that it had possibley been located...:thumb: I then got a lift up to where the bike was (as it was local) and sure enough there it was, but worse for the where, broken mirror, indicator, smashed ignition lock, etc.
But this is the part you wont believe, the bike was carefully parked up on its side stand next to the get-away car that was used to transport the bike - WTF I hear you say. Broken bits of the bike were in the car...!!! talk about worlds most stupid crims.... would Garret steal something and then leave evidence around to be found...:tsktsk:
So have put a big cable lock between my bike and the adjacent bike and will be putting as ground anchor in this week. Additionally the police have said they have got finger prints off the car which should help apprehend these idiotic amateur thief's...

Glad you were able to get it back. I know too many motorcycle owners who have had their bikes stolen, and none of them ever got theirs back.
Also, I'm going to take it easy on off-topic posts in this forum, so don't worry about it.

That really sux! Sorry they mashed up your bike! I'm happy you got it back quickly, though. At least the cops will be able to get the fools. Good thing they never learned real Thieving skills from Garrett! :thumb:

well its not so bad, I'm also a semi pro motorcycle mechanic so Ill be able to source the parts s/h and do all the work myself. Oh and no downwinders this time, I have my suspicions about a local family of thief's "the McMillians" who are known for stealing bikes & cars and braking them for spares. I am quite happy to brake a few bones and leave then at the bottom of a well should I come across them.

That sucks.
I don't want to give you the "could have been worse" line, but my brother got his bike stolen once and the culprits threw it in a lake ... It was only found when one of the mirrors started sticking out of the water. Never really ran properly after that. So it's nice at least you can fix yours.
It's sort of funny that one of your comments was what a botched job the thief did. Pfft, lousy amateurs.

The McMillan kids probably only ever played GTA, or some taft.

What? The criminals just parked it outside on their driveway right next to their getaway vehicle? That doesn't seem likely, as the cops wouldn't need finger prints to know who the guilty party was.
So where did they find your bike? At the grocery store or something?
Unprofessional indeed.
Congrats on getting it back, and good call getting it a bit more security.

I never understood how thieves always manage to damage the stuff they are stealing.
