Anyone in the US see the new Brinks Home Security commercial on TV? It has a burglar picking a lock in it, and it is the EXACT same noises from Thief 1 and 2. Even the noise that sounds when the wrong pick is used. Is that an free for the taking sound, or did they rip it off?

I think some of the Thief sounds are stock sound effects. I've heard distinctive Thief door opening sounds used in films and TV before.

Do you have a link to the vid? I've heard the doors sounds before, even heard a Burrick sound once (not sure where) but I haven't heard the lockpicks outside of Thief.

The sound is the same but the thief definitely wasn't garrett.

Yes, that is the commercial, though the one on TV has a longer 'lockpicking sound' segment. Thanks for digging that up for me, Spiders. :thumb:

Doom uses loads of stock sounds too that are used for all kinds of stuff. I also think I've heard Thief's sound of breaking glass on several occasions.

one day i watched some movie, and when a corpse was falling to the floor, there was exactly the same sound as used in deus ex 1 lol
