Test 6 (from old account).

Test 7 (from old account): Interestingly enough, after having logged in a second time, the login seems to actually stick (from both accounts).
Right at this moment, I'm having the pattern of logging in a first time, visiting this thread, getting logged out, logging in a second time, and then it sticks.

Yup, me too.

Test 8: hmmm, I might be on to something... maybe...

Test 9: I'm pretty sure I finally know what's going on now:
I usually type in "ttlg.com/forums" (manually in the address bar (without "www")) when visiting and logging in. Logging in works, but as soon as I visit a thread, I am redirected to www.ttlg.com[...], which apparently is considered not the same as "ttlg.com", so something somewhere sees me as being logged out. The second time I log in, I am already at "www.ttlg.com", so the login sticks when visiting a thread. If I type in "www.ttlg.com" from the start, everything works. This has been consistent now for the last couple of tries (as well as the opposite), so I'm pretty sure this is it, but, damn, that took a while to figure out.
Edit:
...and if I remove "www." afterwards, I am again shown as being logged in.

Test 10: trying from several different browsers and adding or removing "www." before or after having logged in (or switching back and forth while being logged in) confirms this, so now we at least know what's causing the problem on my side.
Trying with a new account wasn't a waste, though, because otherwise I might not have kept on testing, and seeing things from a new angle helped. Dare I tempt fate and suggest that the new account can now be removed!?
Edit:
I mean, if it works even in Edge, then we know it's okay... :joke: Anyway, moving on with life.

I thought there was a redirect in place to enforce the "www" but clearly not. I've now ensured you'll only be able to access the forums via the full domain name which should prevent it occurring in future for you or anyone else visiting the shortened URL. The test account has been removed as it sounds like the problem has been clearly identified :)

Yup, now I'm redirected to www from the start, and everything works (knock on wood). :)
