I also haven't really figured out yet what I'm actually supposed to do in Spintires.
The main objective is to deliver the requested amount of lumber to each sawmill. The first thing you'll want to do however, is to explore and uncover enough of the map to know where to go. For exploration I recommend you use the UAZ(the one in you picture) or a truck without any cart or anything extra weighing it down. After that you should unlock any garages you find by driving Garage Carts from your starting garage to it. Not necessary, but having additional garages around the map helps a lot. After that, figure out the best route between the lumber points and the mill, and start delivering.

This is a game where you're a killer who kills everyone at parties, and I'm bad at it. There is a brief tutorial at the start, but after that the game kinda throws you into the deep end, and you'll have to figure out most of the game's systems by trial and error. I got arrest A LOT. Killing people is hard, man. Best I did was 42/47 kills before I got caught.
FATE: I'll give it another
stab, but so far it doesn't have me
hooked.
Next week/upcoming games:
Mini Metro / Quantum Break

Unless the game has a visual simulation of your fingers holding the spot on the previous page so that you can turn back and take the other path instead :)
(Which makes me think of what "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" did with its "No no, that's not what happened..." rewinding.)
You should give Steve Jackson's Sorcery a go. That's got a nice rewind feature and lovely drawn art.

You'll want to use the windows to avoif the police when they show up. But expect to spend several runs on each level to just learn their peculiarities, several elements can be tampered with to cause deaths you won't get blamed for if you aren't nearby when people die (or potentially kill police officers).
henke on 1/11/2017 at 16:45
Yeah I did figure out that I can use the windows, but seemingly only once before some Super Mario looking dude comes and boards them up. Also spotted 1 partygoer getting falsely accused of one of my murders and hauled off by the police, heh.
Pyrian on 1/11/2017 at 18:38
Does that count as a kill, or as a fail because you can't kill him?
henke on 1/11/2017 at 19:10
I think it just means that character gets removed from the list of targets. Anyway, played a bit more, made it to level 2.

Thanks to reizak's recommendation in another thread, I picked up Dex on the Steam Halloween sales for something like 3€. Dex is a 2D action-RPG with a cyberpunk theme -
very much like a side-scrolling Deus Ex game, actually. My very first impression of the game was something like "Woah! This is ugly as hell, and the controls feel terrible!" Luckily I kinda grew to like the visual style, but the controls do feel a bit awkward indeed. There's lots of dialogue and stuff to read which in other games I sometimes find tedious after a while, but in Dex they support the fairly standard but quite interesting "You vs Evil Mega Corporation" story very well. I must also say that the voice acting and the soundtrack are top notch and really add to the atmosphere. However, the whole action side of Dex really lets the game down a bit, which is quite a bad thing for an
action game. The fights feel clumsy and it's often too easy to take advantage of the stupid enemy AI. In theory you can also choose a stealthy approach, but you'll miss all the XP that way, and I didn't have too much trouble just beating up all the bad guys anyway, especially when the game gets quite easy when you level up a bit. There's also a hacking mini-game that's fun enough for a little while, but then gets boring and easy.
FATE: My mini-review above may seem quite negative, but I'm still enjoying the game, and looking forward to seeing where the story takes me! I'm definitely gonna finish this one. :)
Pyrian on 3/11/2017 at 16:37
Strictly speaking, I think that's backlog neutral at best. ;)
henke on 4/11/2017 at 05:58
Heh, yeah, well I admit I've ended up sneaking some newly purchased games into my backlog queue as well.
I pretty much agree with your take on Dex, Tomi. Played it myself a while back, but didn't stick with it for more than 2-3 hours.
