Oblivion is indeed... meh..., but I thought Shivering Isles was a return to Morrowind form. Played it several times through even though I never finished Oblivion!
I think it's mostly the fact that Oblivion is generic, plastic heroic fantasy (medieval my ass [oh god that didn't sound right, Pulp Fiction?]), while Morrowind and SI are more outlandish.

Rope arrows what? Yeah, I kid of miss them, but TDS is a good game anyway.

There's a bit of NMA syndrome involved, but honestly, it's more that UIX is nowhere near as fun to play as the previous games - particularly VII and Serpent Isle, as was pointed out. The controls were clunky then and they seem horrible now (I tried to embark on a replay a couple of months ago - after the eight CTD I just gave up), a lot of the rubbish in the plot leaves a bad taste and the whole thing just screams 'rushed out of the door' again, something that sadly seemed the norm for Origin towards the end.

I still like Pagan, though. Popular opinion be damned! Just wish we could've gotten the Lost Vale, though... :(

Mount and Blade. /thread.
I'll pass my vote for Mount and Blade as well. You won't get much more medieval than that.
