I've finished my FM for the NewDark Novice Contest, and I'd like some beta-testers to give it a look and make sure everything's working before I submit it.
The FM is called "Just My Luck" and basically involves Garrett pilfering a couple of houses and shops that were abandoned after ghosts started showing up in the area.
Thanks in advance!

I have two beta-testers now, so I think that'll suffice for my small contest mission. If anyone else still wants to, feel free to PM me. Otherwise, I think we're good here.

Good luck! I'll be giving it a play test as well after submission and before the Monday release to make sure each mission will play. No beta testing just missing files or significant errors.

Why ? Do you think you will be better than the beta testers and find "missing files or significant errors" ? This is wasting good weekend without release to all players.

No it isn't. It's good to be sure that the missions work.
As far as I remember, KOMAG did this in his contests, too.

And what about that respected Komag did this in old days with OldDark ? It bears no comparison with today, with "no errors" NewDark, Shalebridge, big amouts of tutorials and many people who know nearly all about Dromed around.
This is wasting a good weekend. Checking the work of beta-testers who knows about Thief and Dromed more than Iceblade ever will. Iceblade you ever published any mission ? Can't find.

This has nothing to do with Old Dark/Newdark. The authors could forget to add a file when they zip the final version (misflag or something) or do weird things. So the missions won't work.
This just happened recently

It's better to check the missions first. Especially in a Novice Contest.

Checking if missions start up takes a couple of min, not a hard work for all weekend.
Grandmauden on 15/2/2016 at 16:13
Just because the mission starts up fine doesn't mean I might forget something. Maybe I could forget to include the books folder, or the objnames.str file. Or I could really screw up and "submit" one of the beta .zip files instead of the final release .zip file.
No matter how good the technology is, or how thorough the tutorials are, or how widespread the resources are, it's always best to account for human error.
Iceblade isn't trying to supersede the beta-testers' hard work. While it's the job of the beta-testers to check for errors in the pre-release versions, they can't prevent me from messing up the final mission release. All Iceblade, Komag, or anyone else is doing with a last minute playtest is making sure I haven't messed up the final release somehow.
