Awesome, in a sorrowful sort of way. Thanks for posting this.

Good read, albeit a bit short. Here are a few other fallen homies, for whom the pouring out of 40s are most certainly in order:
AdelineDevelopers of the excellent (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CxMIwSMtSc) Little Big Adventure games (:D) as well as (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btEFhyvGod0&feature=related) Time Commando. Ah... the game that let you travel through time, meet intersting people, and beat them up.
~~memories~~EpyxMade/published some great games back in the 80's: Impossible Mission 1&2, World/International Karate Championship, 4x4 Off-Road Racing, California Games 1&2, Summer Games 1&2, Winter Games 1&2, World Games 1 THE LIST GOES ON
Distinctive SoftwareHard to imagine any developer doing more for the genre of racing games than Distinctive Software(ok, maybe (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papyrus_Design_Group) Papyrus, who also deserve a shoutout on this list). Not only did Distinctive make Test Drive, they also developed the excellent (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CITIXlw_T4) Stunts, which had 3D polygonal worlds, and let you build your own tracks. Somewhat of a precursor to Trackmania.
OriginBioForge and Crusader y'all! BioForge and Crusader!
Mucky FootJust for Urban Chaos honestly. What little I played of StarTopia also seemed very good.
Delphine Software InternationalFor Another World, Flashback and Fade to Black.
System 3Or are they still around? If they are it's just not like in the days of Last Ninja and Vendetta.
BrøderbundFor publishing some kick ass games

Seconding Troika and Muckyfoot. Especially Trokia.
Also, Looking Glass, of course.
Koki on 22/6/2009 at 19:09
I can't choose between LGS and Troika.
june gloom on 22/6/2009 at 19:22
