Hi. I just bought Thief: Deadly Shadows today from Direct2Drive.com. Yes, I'm two years late, I know. But a few days ago, while trying to occupy myself until a TES4: Oblivion mod comes out (OOO 1.3), I tried the demo, and had to buy it immediately. But in the demo, I was instantly annoyed by those blue arrow trails, so I searched a bit, and found a patcher that removes them, and works with the demo. But it seems that Direct2Drive sells games prepatched, so when I just bought the full version, I got version 1.1, and to my horror (I really hate those blue streaks) the patcher doesn't work with it. I did a bit more searching, but couldn't find any patcher or tweaker that works with version 1.1. But along the way I found this forum, so hopefully someone here can tell me how to remove the arrow trails from version 1.1.

He bought the Direct2drive version though, it doesn't work with Minimalist nor any of the community patches.

Thanks NH. I'll remember that for the future.
By the way, what was that very simple patch that came out that just made minor changes in the display? The one that let you make changes with the "glint", weapons and tool icons, etc. as well as the arrow trails.
I don't remember who made it, and I can't seem to find it on a search.
Was that the T3Enhanced?
EDIT: I think I remember it was Gaz Chap

Is there anything that works with the Direct2Drive version?

Not a whole lot...the file systems are different. If I had a copy of the Direct2Drive version*cough*, I could probably create a Minimalist patch that would work with it, but since I don't have it...and won't be dishing out more money just to have yet another copy of the game, it shall not be.

moral of the story: buy things in a retail store. saves a lot of headache.

not sure which patchers you tried, t3_patcher modifies "Kernel_GFXALL.ibt" to remove trails, would have thought that file would be the same as retail. I might be able to update the patcher but would need the d2d version of "Kernel_GFXALL.ibt" (or if you know how to handle a hex edit you could give me the info I need) as I don't have time to make the patcher "smart".

The .ibt files in the D2D version are different from the ones in the CD/DVD versions. None of my texture packs work with the D2D version either, for this reason. Not even sure you'd be able to play FMs using it(?).
From what I learned while dabbling with this a good while back (e-mailing back and forth with a person with the D2D version), the D2D .ibt files are approximately half the size of their CD/DVD counterparts, and when searched through using a hex editor, none of the texture/resource names were found within the .ibt, as they are in the CD/DVD versions. This lead me to believe that the D2D files are proprietary archives that are somehow extracted by the game as it loads a level. That may actually not be the case, but was the conclusion I arrived at.
