I FINALLY got to the end of the LONG Lost CIty level in Thief Gold.
I made it up to the cavern with the sparkly firetrap that spews out of the rock and go up to the ledge above the water. I assume that's where the level ends...but that's where the game FREEZES.
The screen goes dark, which is like what it should do only give me my stats, but it's like it crashses without crashing. I can't get back to the desktop by hitting the windows start button or alt-tabbing at that point. (I'm running XP)
What the heck is goin on?
I faintly remember the game not showing movies at all within XP. Is that part of it? Maybe it can't find it. Anywa y I do remember playing the movies manually just to see them.
But this is annoying that it's crashing.

That sucks.
So, the game worked fine up until that point? Had you seen the briefings and cutscenes for the other missions? It may just be a corrupt file.
Try pressing ctrl+shift+delete+end to jump to the next mission, if other methods don't work.

Hmmmm did some more trying. If I go PAST that spot where it crashed and not go up to it (the path forks) it continues on to the left. It is there that the level also can end. It ended correctly with "LEVEL COMPLETE" and stats, then it seemed to freeze again. It DID let me alt/tab
So I did and there were little windows up pretty much of the sort that their were m,ultiple types of "video players" fighting for who gets to play things. I canelled those and went back to thief. It immediately played the next movie.
So it's the varying video playing things that seem to be screwing with things.
