I actually did kinda like the 360 demo. Good atmosphere and good snow-crunching sounds. But the game is always at least $20 in stores and it doesn't really seem worth that much.

I'm reading that the demo was pre-release code and the issues (eg unresponsive keyboard movement) that it had aren't in the full version.

Hmm, but the hardware requirements didn't change, did they? It still needs a slightly beefy rig to play decently at high resolutions. And yeah Aja, I'm not too sure about it being worth the $20 for the console version m'self.

I just played the demo and found that it controlled 100% like a standard FPS with WASD+mouse. It was well optimised too (compared to say, GTA4).
The complaints:-
* Mouse lag when aiming.
* 360 pad buttons were still displayed, eg when moved over weapons to pick them up, perform QTEs, etc.
* Right mouse click is the only way to get out of a menu.I'm perfectly capable of living with those niggles. Unlike other people, small shit doesn't put me off playing games.

So, EvaUnit2, I take it you're just going to pretend like that little "calling Stitch out" incident up there never happened?
Wise move.

When it first came out it was one of the first dx10 titles iirc.
the xb360 version didn't even have dx10. I'm sure if you ran it in dx9 instead you'd probably get a nice performance boost. Unless you already were.

Well technically, the Xbox 360 (and the PS3) can't do DirectX 10. It's true though, you're better off running Lost Planet on the faster DX9 code path. There isn't much of a visual difference 'tween the two.

there is no difference in performance between dx9 and dx10. nearly exactly the same framerate, and it's dx10 that's actually a couple points higher on average
Anybody know what engine this game was made from? the cutscenes are very MGS.

That's interesting news, thanks for sharing. Are you using Vista 32-bit or x64? Also are you playing Extreme Condition or Colonies?

Capcom's in-house engine, (

running 32 bit. and im playing whatever version they sell on Steam. for 5 bucks I couldn't resist.
Also. If theres a mouse sensitivity slider I can't find it. So everyone who complains about dead space can stick it. This is worse (assuming i'm not an idiot and just can't find the option) and I'm still playing it and having fun.
EDIT: according my steam games list i'm playing extreme condition.
