It is good to see the "What do you find in a slum?" thread go to good purpose. :D The mission area really felt dysmal, run-down and quite hopeless... although the Hammer death-factory kinda threw me at the end (that place is biiiiig).
I found the gambling den, but in the same area, there are also barred windows a bit higher with barrels behind them. Any way in there?

That would be the police station / prison. The kitchen area.

Frenzie Whenzie was incarcerated for stealing the gold medallion. It is just something that incidentally occured independant of the story or Garrett's purpose for being in the slums.

I don't know if I did this right to complete the level, but
[SPOILER]At first, I rescued John but completely forgot about Jack in the jail, then John went to the gate and the mission ended, with the objective about Jack being checked off as completed
Then I realized that's probably the wrong way, so I freed Jack from the jail to only to have him caught by a city guard and returned. Then I rescued John, to have him go to the gate and mission be completed..
there was a guard there at the gate when John went there, but he didn't do anything and just stood there. I heard there was a part 5 coming, so is this the way part 4 is supposed to end? Is John supposed to get caught at the end of part 4?[/SPOILER]

John doesn't get caught because he is a good boy. :) This is just where the mission ends. btw Garrett does get caught and will be addressed in a future mission.
The ape beasts aren't that hard to deal with. You can run past them and blackjack them in the dark if they chase you down.

OK, I must be totally blind or something; where are the "speed fire" arrows? I've got a thief & a thug back in town that I need to take care of, and these should do very nicely...if I can ever find them!:mad:
