@nickie:
it may appear to play ok (when extracted using 'keep broken files' option in Winrar for example and ignoring CRC error msg) but miss21.mis itself is corrupt/altered in many places (41 differences according to file binary comparison). That would lead to crash/bug prone etc mission (really hard to predict how it will behave with altered/corrupt .mis file).
proper miss21.mis MD5 should be af44557e577d54dc29087910c081c7fc
corrupt one has: 063e2468976d2a68d106c81b3d96e767

Ok it must have been corrupted on Geociites server, because I just extracted miss21.mis from the zip file on my Thief PC, and got no error. I did get the same CRC error on the bad zip file. I have now uploaded a good copy of the zip to Geocities.
Thank you Hiatus for finding the error. :)

Purely as a matter of interest, what would you expect to happen if I carry on playing the corrupt file?
Sorry, didn't read your post properly Hiatus - it would start crashing? Might just carry on for a bit to see what does happen.

I'm not sure what would happen Nickie. :)

Just finished Love Story IV - and with that, the entire series so far. I had one odd glitch, though: For some reason, the water in the canal was invisible. I could hear splashing sounds while moving in it, and the water obviously was there, but I couldn't see it at all. In Love Story II and III, which I played just before it, water was working normally. Wonder what was up with that?
Also, what was the deal with the woman who kept visiting the police station as a part of her route? When she visited the police station, she would stop, roughly in front of the sleeping guard, and start wiggling and twitching like she was having an epileptic seizure. What was she supposed to be doing?

I noticed the water thing too - I just thought that it was supposed to be a dried up canal since it was the slums, and the splashing you heard was just the saturated ground underneath your feet. I guess it didnt occur to me that the water could have been glitched. :laff: Come to think of it, I think I only hit the water once for a second or two before climbing back up, so I may not have noticed.
Also, I didn't see the woman on patrol that you mentioned, but I may have to replay the mission due to that sounding like its hilarious.

I even managed to get underwater at the little "waterfall" under the bridge with a rope hanging from it. :cheeky: Also when I blackjacked a female civilian standing in the canal in front of the gambling house (what the heck was she doing there, anyway, standing in the water?), she made some gurgling sounds and apparently drowned. (I ended up reloading and just leaving her alone.)

She's a servant - or at least looks like one, with green clothes - who doesn't seem to react to your presence. She patrols between the police station and the small square before it, that has a stationary guard carrying a club.

If there are too many objects on screen, it may cause the water to disappear.
The woman on patrol has no purpose other than being part of the city life. Her motions in the police station were meant to be amusing. :)
