They aren't really important to the story, but rather just shows the City Watch was cleaning up the riff raff (bad guys). :D

Yes it is possible to open the secret door behind the Hammer Compound, but it won't count as a secret.
Dew Drop is hidden somewhere on the South end of the slums.
