Re: Morbid Angel, you are right, it's just the overall atmosphere, not a direct connection. ("Azagthoth" certainly helps) To paraphrase Neil Gaiman, that's what our minds do, make connections.
(I prefer Morbid Angel to Nile)

There's an upcoming FM with some very obvious Lovecraft references.

I actually meant Nergal. But time was short and my mind went pfft.
Marduk's another option, I'd think.

There´s also the "Book of Ash" from the Necromancer´s tower.
Although I feel that´s more likely to be a reference to the Evil Dead film that was also referencing the Necronomicon.

Emil said he hadn't thought about it that way when he made it, and was thinking about fire and ashes, but concedes he probably made a subliminal connection to Evil Dead. It's been supposed that the spell in the Book of Ash is Lovecraftian, but others disagree. I wouldn't know, but I know enough to see how it could be supposed.:)

Although I like some Nile, particularly From the Catacombs.... I haven't heard of these bands, so I'll check 'em out! :thumb:

Interesting.. and a bit disappointing. I loved that subliminal reference.

In the TDP intro, there's a wanted poster for stealing the "jewels of Sarnoth", I suspect it may be a reference to Lovecraft's "The Doom That Came to Sarnath".

Interesting. I had wondered about a connection to the place where Buddha began preaching, but this is better.
