I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but I found a major game exploit in Deus Ex. Don't read further if you're a purist about playing the game. Some would consider this a "cheat", but it's really an exploit that is accessible from within the game.

In the first part of the Vandenburg mission, behind the building on which you start, there is a yellow generator which must be turned on via a keypad to accomplish an objective. After using multi-tools on the keypad, you must "use" it (right-click) and get the word OVERRIDE to appear above it. When you do, you get 100 skill points.
What I found is that if I "use" it again, I get 100 more skill points. And again, and again, and again. In other words, I could gain infinite skill points and max out all my skills if I wanted.
Anybody else seen this?
I also found out that this exploit can be done with the second keypad as well - the one inside the building. And it can be done even if you enter the code instead of using a multi-tool. The only problem with using the code is, if you're really trying to rack up points by using this exploit (which none of us would, of course!

Then there's the two magic doors in the sub base.
Rorschach on 23/2/2001 at 17:50
Also, if you talk to Savage ion top of the sub base, and your inventory is full, he'll drop an aug canister. and keep dropping them. I haven't checked to see if Jaime will do the same in Hong Kong, but Miguel will drop an infinite number of medkits if you have 15 when you talk to him.
Forsythe on 23/2/2001 at 20:59
Hmm.. haven't seen that w/ Savage, Rorschach; I believe the exploit you're meaing to state is that you get skill points every time you talk to him as long as your inv. is full (and, of course, if he hasn't given the upgrade to you yet)

I tried that thing with Savage to see if he kept dropping the aug upgrade canisters and he didn't. As Forsythe says, I just kept getting more and more skill points.

The aug bug works only if you have an aug upgrade already in your inventory and your inventory is full, for both Savage and Jaime (if he follows you to Hong Kong).
Note that this also works with weapon mods -- if say you have an accuracy mod in your inventory and Carter tries to give you one (or you buy one from a weapons dealer), you'll get as many as you want until you drop an item to open an inventory slot. Oddly enough, if you're buying, you'll get the mods for free.
Note also that with Voodoo cards, one item will drop and a second will "ghost" behind items already in your inventory. You can access ghosted items only by moving or dropping the items in front.
And an interesting side effect regarding Zyme -- if you have some in your inventory (with a full inventory) and buy more, it will ghost behind another item, in effect opening an inventory slot, allowing you to carry Zyme without wasting space.

Two points:
1) Thanks for the aug upgrade tip wsthune. I was actually thinking that maybe the trick was to have a canister in your inventory but whenever I found them I generally used them straight away.
2) I got that "ghosting" occasionally and I have an Nvidia card. Is it exclusive to Voodoo cards? Well, clearly it isn't if it happened to me too.

People using other cards have reported no ghosting in the past -- but then, they may not have been paying attention.
