Cripes is a real word, unlike taffer.
It's a euphemism for "Christ", like "Geez", "Jiminy Christmas", "Cheese'n'Rice", and "Judas Priest", etc.
There are many instances of it in TDS, but you have to surprise the AI to get a chance to hear them.

The meaning : A crummy and justifiably insane person, who loves drawing attention to himself and creating hoaxes. :D
In other words : An analogue to a deranged version of Baron Münchausen or a modern-day conspiracy theory maniac. :laff:
Of course, I derived it from the "bats in the belfry" phrase.

I looked into my Slovak-English PC dictionary, and it is translates as an analogue to a traditional swear word of ours : "Krucinál" (a shortened and warped version of "crucifix"). Fits the ethymology like a glove... :p
