Hello, first of all sorry for my english, i'm a french speaker so i hope what i'm writing is understable.
I' m not a regular poster, but i checked this site for a long time, since i discovered thief 2 and i want to thank all the people here to have built a so strong community and for the wonderful fms that have been made.
Here is my idea, what about a petition from thief community about EM marketing behavior.
It's not a petition to obtain more news, if they do not want to communicate on it because they feel the time is not opportune, it is their right.
This petition would be more about the fact that they simply ignore us. Why did they not say that thief 4 will not be at e3? Is it so difficult to say simply "no, we will have news after deus ex release".
Nobody from the staff of EM talks with us, event the community manager wich is what he is paid for. We are simply ignored.
and when they have sold enough deus ex copies, they will come and say "hey taffers, i'm glad to communicate with you, you're my best friends lolilo, you're so amazing blablabla".
So, it's time for us to show our disappointment and i hope a little buzz on the internet thow show that at the internet era, the communication declines.
Pfouu, sorry again, i hope you have understood what i'm trying to say.
so, what's your point with that?
and thanks again for the wonderfuls fms that have been made all these years, is spend thousand hours on them.

It won't work. They know we're disappointed, so they won't be hearing anything new from the community in a petition. :erg:

yes, i know but my idea is to send the petition to gaming websites,(RPS, vg247, and french sites that i know) to make a buzz and to force EM to change their behaviour towards the community.

It won't work. The magazine writers have wondered aloud what the silence is about. EM is quite aware. There's no forcing EM to do anything. The magazines would have to work in concert to deny doing business with EM for articles and exclusives, and that ain't about to happen. T4 doesn't mean half as much to the magazine businesses as it does to we fans.

if I were a g. developer I'd announce my game and only start giving info three months before release just to piss off the fans with entitlement and manage expectations
jtr7 on 11/6/2011 at 08:57
And we could all boycott your company to frustrate your sense of entitlement for our money, nevermind the community going into hibernation during the wait only because there is a very real expectation, a Pavlovian response, separate from, and overlapping or becoming, entitlement. You're not above it, and coming into these forums to make potshots and nothing else shows how bored you really are. You came here for attention, plain and simple, you got it! At least this time you made half a point, and not just a wasted non sequitur you only think is relevant.
I now await the usual cast of characters who don't have any sense of history or memory of hot April/May 2009 got, and the kind of contact we had, and the points made to contact the community, and how cold it got around here January 2010, and how much colder it got in June 2010, and how it's been radio silence, with no meaningful point of contact made, and how unlike the setup the follow-through has been...

I'm still bewildered by this and definitely feel abandoned by EM. Rene's replacement has been (so far) noticeably lacking. He even came across as downright unfriendly in his last few posts, imo.

Rene was a joy to converse with, the few times we exchanged messages, and he genuinely made an effort. I haven't had good experiences with CoyoteGrey at all. Maybe it's just the way he comes off across the net, but he has a dismissive air about him. I'm sure he'll be all over the Thiaf forums when it's time to start spinning that game...but it's too little too late for me.

Im only going to say this once, wdog. Leave it alone. This "silence", as it is being called, is quite possibly the best thing that could happen to a Thief title right now. Let it be. Let them work on this behind the scenes, the way a good classic game should be planned and made. The less you know about this title the better. At the very least, please try to understand that if they are not releasing information on a product it means that it is either superior or inferior.

I concur with all you say. This petition idea is ridiculous and this thread ought to be closed, imo.
Also, I am surprised to read negative comments about coyotegrey/kyle, EM's Community Manager. I haven't once seen him act "downright unfriendly" as Dia's post states . :wot:
