I was surfing the web and came across a few patches and texture/model edits that you can add into Thief 1 so it looks like Thief 2. It was called Orgy's Way to Make Thief 1 L33t or something like that...
Does anyone know where I can download these? I found the site they're on, but all the links are broken...:(

what he (or she?) posted is the texture hardware patch. There's also Daemonite's thief mesh patch in GIF or TARGA (TGA) format.... Or, of course, Orgy's mesh patch. I'm using Daemonite's TARGA mesh patch for the models.

How do these new textures work, do they enhance thief gold textures to the standard of thief 2, or do they change them to different thief 2 things.
I don't want them if they change thief gold textures entirely.

Its more of a thief 2 type of standard, but there is definitely a noticeable difference. I never used the patch (until today) but had it downloaded.
Since I tested it out, there is a noticeable difference, but the textures still capture the look of the original thief gold. Some of them are quite nice, but i took the patch off, I think I actually prefer the older textures. Test it out for yourself, all you gotta do is delete the "fam" directory from the textures patch if you don't want it anymore.

hmmm yes i think i may just test them, because its a great idea, but i dont want it to change the look of the game too much!
do you know the differences between GIF and the other thing?
And which ones are best Orgy's or the other dudes?

funny you ask that, I actually created a thread on that very type of question a long time ago and was thinking on it earlier... I wonder if I can dig that thread up... I'll have to do a search... But to answer the question, I believe from what i read from the readmes off of theCircle, the gif format is 256 colors, whereas the TGA format is 24-bit colors. Check the readmes to be 100% sure.... I think as far as I can tell, the gifs from daemonite's versus orgy's look the same to the untrained eye.... At least, I couldn't distinguish a noticeable difference in the qualities. I'd go with TARGA, but thats just me.:cheeky:

Yea it does say 24bit and then 256.
Just as long as it doesn't turn hammers into garrett's and guards into mages etc! hehehe

just kidding,:sly: That would be pretty funny though. Maybe as a prank on a friend... but i dont have any friends that play thief anymore really.:(
