what novels fett?

Oh, nothing that's been published. The point is that I found time to write and revise three entire novels alongside my gaming. Multiple revisions, as in two of the manuscripts have been entirely re-written 5-6 times and revised top to bottom over two dozen. I meet regularly with a crit group, attend SCBWI conferences (for children and young adult writers), and query agents and publishers on a regular basis. And I've finished every major quest line in both Morrowwind and Oblivion in that time, had a major hand in bringing T2X to finish, etc. Games are a huge part of my life, but they don't overshadow even other hobbies, much less important, tangible, relational things. What a twat this guy is...

Since when is an "average" player creating three level 80 characters? Sounds pretty diehard to me; it's pretty telling of what type of gaming circles this guy associates with.
He's a moron, no doubt, but he's right in one respect - MMOs are evil and will waste your life away. I played WoW and Everquest for a bit, and will never touch an MMO again. These games are designed purely to suck you in and keep you paying monthly subscription fees until the end of time. Case in point, WoW - I'm always shocked when I hear they still have over 10 million subscribers shelling out $15/month. You almost have to think it's something subliminal.

Yeah, I don't think you can compare the gaming that we do with the sitting and grinding mill of mmos, fett. The stuff he talked about is pure mmo - fostering co-dependencies b/w players to get people to stay on.

The guy isn't a moron, but he is assuming his unhealthy relationship with gaming extends to gaming as a whole, which it obviously doesn't. Gaming is a non-active and unproductive hobby, like watching television or (gasp!) reading, and it can be rewarding as long as it is prioritized correctly. Hell, everyone needs to blow off some steam from time to time. I was also lollin at the implication that reading all seven Harry Potter books is a remotely superior way to spend one's time.
But man all those shots of the Super Mario World cartridge really made me want to play that shit.

I personally play games what I consider to be far too much and have published three reasonably good (of course I'm being modest, they're fucking jaw-dropping) scientific papers so far and have yet to rape anyone that matters.
Too early to call post of the year?

At least it doesn't have the sappy music playing in the background.

It seems he's come back down to reality; acknowledging that it was his fault and not the fault of games.
SubJeff on 22/3/2010 at 23:40
Oh whatever. It's his earnest bs and "acknowledging" that is grating.
Basically a load of people called him out on his idiocy and rather than say "Ok, you're right, I was a dick." he's saying "Yeah guys, but that wasn't the point!"
Well wtf was the point then? He even says in the first video "video games were to blame." Twat.

He probably didn't realise that the (
http://www.olganon.org/) support group he needed was there for him all the time.
