I can't speak for the PC version but I found the PS2 version a bit lacking, even setting aside the censorship. Loved the original though.
Main difference is that the levels are smaller and not as open-ended, and they just don't have the atmosphere of the original game despite looking much prettier. Some of the new gameplay features are good, though- like having loud noise drown out any sound you might be making, environmental kills (love the sewer manhole one) and executions with guns, which I wish had been in the original.

Judging by the screenshots and the reports, it's almost an exact port of the PS2 version. Which might be a bit lacking in 2009, especially since they sell it for about $30 AFAIK.

Is it on Steam? The Rockstar catalogue isn't available in my region on any digital distribution service and Google doesn't answer the question (it's apparently on D2D though, but they don't do business with those in Australasia.).
With Steam there's always the gifting + Paypal transfer option to get around regional sale restrictions (and/or stupid regional pricing differences).

Got it on the Wii, skip it it's just not interesting. Manhunt was a very good game, this one truly sucks.

YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! My PC has the fucking horsepower to play it!!! God, finally, I get to play it. I am the world's biggest Manhunt fan. I was Cash for Halloween one year and a Smiley the next. Complete with Drug Slut written on my chest.
Buying it from Direct2Drive as we speak. They are giving away the first one for free with 2, though I don't need it. I own it for Xbox and PC, and used to have the PS2 version. I will report back tomorrow after spending some time with it.

What's your current specs? 3850 256MB, 2GB RAM and a P4?

Will play this at a friend (pc version). I'm curious if it will tickle my gaming sense like the first game did, though from what I'm reading here it probably won't. Oh well.

Sapphire 3850 XT 512 MB is going to be ordered this month. I was going to get a 256 MB 3750 for $110, but I found the aforementioned 3850 for $88!!!
Otherwise, it has : 2GB DDR400, and a 2600+ Athlon XP, and I am using the 9800 PRO until the new GPU arrives.
BTW: installing as we speak. God, I am giddy as a school girl.
