Mapping out The City. - by Digital Nightfall

Just one comment. The FRAMED map needs to be tweaked to angle against the river about 15 to 25 degrees from its current position.
I'm not sure if the long side with the canal (Bottom edge) on that map, or the short side (Left edge) But in the mission itself, the river is immediately to the players left at the start and the canal is parallel to that to the right front of the start, to the right of the "Inn".
Location in the overall feels right but the orientation to the main "river" running through the center of the map is "off" compared to the actual player "View" at the start of the mission.
Sorry about that. It's no big deal, but it just "feels" off to me. Ignoring the compass points and going by Garretts physical orientation in the game to the river and the canal.

Well, assuming the compass is correct (which it has been in 99% of the cases), wouldn't that actually imply it's the river itself we need to adjust, not the level?

There is no river in Framed. The area to the south of the start position with the dancing undead behind the wall is not the river, (a common misconception) it is the cutoff of the bottom of the distant art of the skybox, nothing more.

Out of the 59 maps, 13 have incorrect or changed compass headings so that would be 22% incorrect. You know what assuming does :)

Thanks for saving me from checking that out on my own. I couldn't remember to actually see THE river in "Framed" either. :weird:
So, any opinion about those additional maps?

After I'd played Thief the first time, then went years without being able to play it again, my memory of a swath of blue, the moat, the well, the water pipe swim, and the name "Shoalsgate" all combined in a strong memory of a nearby river. When I was finally able to play Thief again, I was disappointed to see that it was as Sxerks says. I still WANT it to be a river or tributary, but alas! :)

Thanks, but as most of us don't use Dromed to expand the limits or look, it's still a river in GARRETT'S WORLD. :ebil:

Okay, crawling back out of my hole for a minute here, because I think we need to take stock of our current situation:
Who, exactly, is working on the map at this point?
MorbusG was tinkering with it, but we haven't heard from him for awhile. Kerrle was working on it before that, but we haven't heard from him for even longer. I know str8g8 is planning on doing a version at some point, but we haven't really reached that stage yet.
So is anyone actually working on this, or are we all going to wait in breathless anticipation until we pass out due to lack of oxygen?

I'd gone past turning blue, myself, sorry...I had to take a breath.
This is another one of those projects, like T2Gold, where everyone's waiting for someone else to do it. I have to ask, has anybody tried PMing our volunteers?
