Damned sweet stuff, Briareos H. Very nice, and I'm looking forward to seeing more! Nice to be able to exhale, as Doc said. And as an aside, I haven't had the chance to play Mission X yet, but have been very impressed with the level of graphic design that I've seen thus far from the COSAS devs... anyone have a screenshot or image of the maps they've developed?
Maybe I'll get the time to sit down and play later this week. New job and all that!

There are links in the Official Release thread for hi-res versions of the maps as seen in-game and in the movies.

Tell me, Briareos, is the map you're working on something you'd prefer to keep to yourself, or do you think we could parcel out small, digestible chunks for our various artists to work on?
Now granted, I'm no artist, but I know we've got several talented folks here who'd be up to the task. Would anyone be interested in contributing? Or does anyone have any suggestions for contributors?

MorbusG was tinkering with it, but we haven't heard from him for awhile.
Still am. Sealed section at the moment, which is a very complex one and has taken a long time. I keep updating them to the same location as I go, and let you guys know here when I've done all of them.

I think just dropping in to say, "No worries, taffers! The work is still in progress!" is a good idea.
Thanks for dropping in!:thumb:

And now for some motivation...
Sola kindly pointed out to me the City map included with CoSaS' Mission X, which you can see (
http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/1996/cityreleasevu8.jpg) here. Granted, our layout is different from theirs (for reasons we have (
http://docs.google.com/View?docID=dfzbr8th_055db5c&revision=_latest) explained), but I wanted you all to see it as an example of what this project may ultimately look like.
Secondly, it just dawned on me that the original Thief: The Dark Project was first released on November 30, 1998. Idle fantasy though it may be, wouldn't it be awesome if we could get this project done by November 30, 2008--just in time for the ten year anniversary mark?

Whoohoooo!
What say you, map artists!?

I think after this awesome mapping project is done, TTLG should somehow send the results to Eidos Montreal for them to make Thief 4 locations not contradicting with all the previous games. I even hope they will be thankful.

I also suggest that a document explaining the rationale and the reasoning, the process how the consensus regarding the current map layout came to be, would be created, to go along with the map. An index and references to map locations, with explanations and rationale.
This might already be in the wiki, I should've checked before but I'm just so bloody tired right now. Great going though, all involved!

We should just show them the entire TTLG archives, and Thief-wiki, the City map, Cosas, jtr7 list of Thief characters, T2X, all fanart, mp3s, the insane ammount of fms...
They will look at all that and get... scared by our devotion :cheeky:
