Mapping out The City. - by Digital Nightfall

I just had a look at the Thief 2 Gold Mission notes from the infamous journal.
Necromancer Castle:
Quote:
I’ve obtained a rudimentary map of the Necromancer’s castle, nestled in the mountains just north of the City.
College: It's described as an aristocrats' place and there are hills on every side of the entrance:
Quote:
Hills on either side of main entry are awesome, but note that the player can climb up right side [...] Smalled barred doors / windows on hill are great. Very flavourful
I'd vote for North Quarter if we do that.
Fallen Hammers: Well, apparently a simple Hammerite map, a well and several walls to be found, could be on the west bank according to Doc's conclusion that it's the older part of town.
Raid at Willard Square, this is really something to work with:
Quote:
Bridge over water with guards. Feels great
Considering that it looked like S&R and was supposed to be slum-like (including a brothel that might have been removed later), I can think of something in the south.

Thanks, Cúthalion.
Willard Square: The areas close to the shoreline usually get the most disparaging remarks made about them. An area just north of the any of the docks would suit fine, methinks.

Shalebridge, anyone?

This little intersection area with SQ and Wayside? OK for now, I'll have a look at the single maps once more if I find the time. Unfortunately they don't seem to be up-to-date as they could be (from what the journal suggests).

Does it contain any types of actual maps? If not, there isn't much sense "placing" them anywhere.
Mol: check out Doc's post (a few posts before your own) for a legend.

Ookay. Umm, forgive my slight OT and lack of knowledge, but... where did those come from? Are they playable?

Those are Sxerks' renderings of the maps (
http://www.ttlg.com/FORUMS/showthread.php?t=108070)
Digi released two years ago for the abandoned, but official, (
http://www.thiefmissions.com/thief2gold/index.htm)
Thief 2 Gold that LGS was working on. Also released were TDP mission outtakes. The maps are vey incomplete, the slums being the most completed of all.
Since Thief 2 Gold was official, and had been going forward up until LGS was shut down, it's felt that these maps deserve a chance. Also, earlier in this thread, it was decided that once the official OMs were in place, that FMs would have a chance for placement. The T2G maps are as close to canon, if not closer, than the FMs, so while we wait for the artists' first drafts of the new City Map, we are speculating about T2G.
Sorry if I overdid it here, MorbusG. This is also for anyone who might be reading this who didn't know these existed.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
