Mapping out The City. - by Digital Nightfall

Man, it's stumbling across things like this that really make you realise just how dedicated and awesome the thief community really is.
I'm really handy with Photoshop, and I'd love to attempt a high-res, old-tyhme mock-up of the completed map.
If anyone can send me some high-res versions of the individual locations on the map, that would be awesome.

Looking good and all, I think it would be a good call to move the mission names into a legend at this stage, and just label the map T1.1 (Thief 1, mission 1), T2.5 (Thief 2 mission 5) etc.
Also, wouldn't it be a good idea to put down some of the road names, plus POI etc. Some of them are already labelled in the original maps, ie Barons Way and Auldale Street.
Additionally a lot of street names are mentioned in readables etc. Why not place them as well?
Edit, digging around in this thread I found some ad hoc list of street names mentioned in the OMs (but not labelled in the maps themselves):
Gentry Bouldevard - address of First City Bank and Trust, North Quarter
Center Street - note in First City Bank and Trust - North Quarter?
Carter's Gate - possibly just a part of the Truart Estate, or a main road leading out of the city at that pont?
Willard Square (from the journal) quarter unknown, though a brothel would probably be in Docks
E. Park Boulevard
Hawkings Drive
These 2 streets are where burglaries occurred, inc carriages and a gold crest, which would place them in a better district, ie, Hightowne, Auldale
Gorn Avenue
Northcrest Road
These 2 streets are the sites of criminal damage ... so should maybe be placed in one of the poorer areas
Greevs St
Courtyard Trail
Balma Drive
Kimmel Road
These roads are reported as sites of Paganism, so should be placed nearby known Pagan hotspots, ie the sanctuary, Docks, Auldale park area etc
Fort Street - maybe leading up to Fort Ironwood?
Arlen Street
North Bisbee St
Glenover Dr
These streets are where assualts take place, so again, might be placed in rowdy neighbourhoods, ie OQ, SQ, Shalebridge, Docks ...
Ruthorford St - mentioned in T3 briefing, presumably the Ruthorford estate would lie on this road, so SQ
I'm sure there are more to be found ...

The list of street names is the total list. There are no more given.:)
We also have mention of a "great plaza statue". The star gazer removed the young Brellick's entrails from it after he was blown up. A statue in a great plaza, or a great statue in a plaza.

I agree we should get the T2G maps in, at least the placement. At least we can talk about placement for now while the topic is up...
Also, I'd think it's okay to put incomplete maps in; filling in the T2G maps would be part of the same artistic task as filling in the rest of the incomplete map (... someday there might be a fan-made completion that could be added in the future, but we shouldn't worry about that now) ... And anyway that's still independent of the placement question.
Going off of Beleg's (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1761161#post1761161) notes, as for placement, I'd think:
Necromancer Castle - North mountains are westside, so just west of Bonehoard a ways, going towards Cragscleft.
College: hills, could be east or westside. I disagree with Beleg's first suggestion. Important colleges are usually old, nobility-led things (think Oxford), so I'm thinking Hightowne, home of the very old aristocracy, and of course hills. For aesthetic reasons, I'd think it'd fit west of the \ road, across from "New Market" lettering.
Fallen Hammers: Not sure the story on this one, but I agree with whoever thought in the vicinity of the Haunted Cathedral; sounds right... just south in OQ proper maybe.
Willard Square: Brothel sounds like just north of the docks to me, too. For aesthetic reasons, we might fit it into the west space just inside the nook of the ")" road N of Docks, straight east of Ambush.
Opinions?

I had a look at the college map months ago, so I'm not quite sure whether the style was more like The Bank or something else. That the older parts of the City are on the west bank doesn't rule out the possibility that the college (and we don't know if it's old) was always on the east bank. But the east bank clearly lacks maps. :erg:
And something else: (

This is a German report about LGS that one of the German ttlg guys came up with today. Left aside that it features unknown artworks like a simple guard, you can see a City image at 0:45 that I have already seen as an image on a Russian Thief site (which is apparently offline, maybe clearing can help, the page title was "GREAT THIEF"). I almost think there must be an original painting to it because the style is very much like that of the old copper engravings.

Isn't that Dominus' channel? Just how much LGS/Thiefy stuff are you Deutsch taffers sitting on?

I knew it was something for you. :p Now I'd be interested in a HD version for the Garrett and guard artworks.
Thanks, Solabusca, Holland reminds me of my latest economic history subject. I almost had a bad feeling because I felt like studying Thief.

First off, a probable direction for Markham's Isle:

Inline Image:
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4416/citymapareadocksislejo5.th.jpgThe pink lines are directions to the objects in the Docks skyglobe: Clockwise: the on land lighthouse, in water light 1, in water light 2, seaside mansion. The in waer light 1 is actually in the water so it can't be a lighthouse, the light2 is on the edge of the water and the sky so it could be a distant ligththouse. The black L is 1x1 mile so, the isle is currently 2 miles out at an angle.
Second is the "mountains to the west" that came up with jtr's (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1679372#post1679372) post about the river cutscene. When I first posted that pic back on page 68 I thought they may have been mountains too, until I looked closer and saw buildings on the left and the right above the bridge, and realized that "the mountains" were just the upward expanding cityscape that is seen in all thief games. The black area in the back may be mountains(to the north) but since its a night picture it's hard to tell what it's supposed to be.
Third, the opera house still isn't in the right spot, as pointed out many times over the last 50 pages, the keeper map arrow doesn't point to it, it points to the ORIGINAL location/entrance of the talisman.
Fourth, random city area art for no reason:
