Mapping out The City. - by Digital Nightfall

Is there a consensus about road names? Naming the major ones in the T3 map would be nice.

If a road is given a canon name, then it should be on the map in one color/shade. If it hasn't been given a name, any fanon name should be in a different color/shade. Other than that, I have no opinion about it. As a reminder, bookmark, or if someone's just joining us, ALL of the given names for streets are (

here, so we could suggest a known street name in one city section continues through another city section if they line up, but still, with the color/shade distinction. Determining whether "City Watch district 12" could apply to a game map, or if it should only apply to a never seen area, could provide quick filler for one area.
We could use the "crimes" to determine a worthy city section, from M04B19 & M04B20:
"Paganism
Greevs St. - Paganism
Courtyard Trail - Paganism
Balma Drive - Pagan sympathy
Pearson Manor - Harboring a Pagan
Danno block - Paganism
Kimmel Avenue - Paganism
Assault
Fort Street - assault class A
Fort Street - assaultcrossbow usage
Arlen Avenue - assault class A
N. Bisbee Drive - assault class C
Glenover Drive - aggravated assault dagger display
Gapoda Oak - assault class C"
"Burglary
E. Park Boulevard - burglary of carriage, horses taken; 800
Hawkings Drive - burglary of manor, Gold Crest taken; 2300
Criminal mischief
Gorn Avenue - criminal mischief; 300 damage
Crippled Burrick Pub- criminal mischief, patron thrown through window; 500
Northcrest Road - criminal mischief to collector tower; 250
Millans Drive - criminal mischief to street lamp, 25 damage"
It may or may not coincide at all, but "Danno" was also the name of a Downwinder (but it's really a nickname for Dan Thron).

(

The base layer is somewhat crappy, but it's the best I could do. I suck at cubic beziers. Also, the mechanist seminary needs an "outside" -marker and a "Eastport" -label. I didn't name any roads yet.

Very nice! :thumb:
A couple of comments:
Missing in Action
In response to your earlier question, yes, I would put Trail of Blood on the map--or in the very least, the section Garrett visits before he teleports to who knows where.
From the looks of things, you've included every other mission... but wait! Where's Precious Cargo?
Outlying Areas
I get why you've got the Mage Tower, Cragscleft, and Bonehoard all off map--after all, we really don't know just how far away from the City they are. But then I have to ask why Blackmail, Running Interference, and Casing/Masks have been given the same treatment. Since they're clearly within the city limits, I think we should show them as such. May have to shift the map East a little to make it work, though, just as far as clutter is concerned.

Doc, I've drawn the base-layer from the "bdjsm7tr.jpg" ie. the T3 manual scan, that's why the maps you mentioned are "outside".
Good thing you noticed about Precious cargo, I had somehow missed that one entirely. I knew that thinking all was there was too good to be true :p

Nice map. Is there a way to zoom in, though? The text is quite small on my screen.

Like I said previously, the controls available to you depend on the client-application you use to view it. But seeing how that is something one would expect to see in the actual svg -file, I'm looking at a possibility to include the controls inside it.

Nice map, MorbusG - my only qualm is that I'd prefer to pull away from the core Manual map a bit - I mean, in Doc's last iteration of the map, the river looks smaller, because more ground is covered; your current svg map seems to rely on the manual map from TDS in such a way that everything else must be overlaid on it, and we've stretched beyond the boundries of that map in just about every way.
Basically, it's a snapshot of the City's core, and we have more of it mapped out as a result of our endeavours.

Not quite. :sly:
The manual map stops just to the West of Precious Cargo, and you've got it expanded further out. All I'm saying is do the same to the Eastside so we can definitively incorporate those missions that take place within the City limits. That would mean that
any mission that appears within an inset falls outside the City. It's just a consistency issue.

Plus, making the river smaller would possibly result in a more regular river bank. As long as there are not hundreds of large rocks or wave breakers I don't think it would have this jagged shape.
