Just call me Sir Stuck-in-a-Rut, but if we
were to launch a TTLG-wide contest in order to drum up interest, what exactly could we offer as the prize? Wouldn't be much of a contest without a carrot to dangle in front of the participants...
See how much it would cost to have a poster-sized print of it done up professionally at the local print shop, plus mounting/framing and shipping to the victor? Have someone pick up (
http://www.profantasy.com/) CC3 + City Builder 3 and offer it as a prize?

Hmm... not bad, not bad at all. :thumb:
Thoughts, mappers? Would either of these be motivation enough for you, or is there something else you have in mind?

Hey glad to see some interest in reviving this project. I stopped working on my map short after releasing the demo last year due to a lot of procrastination and a bit of moving 800 km from my town and getting a new job. or the other way around.
Anyway, I really intend to come back to it but first I'm spending the month of may where I won't have my computer, then from June I won't have a lot of free time so I might do a bit here a bit there and not update the website very often. Or at all. The site was more a demo of the google maps-like tool anyway.
BTW I don't really care about any kind of prize. But a contest may be a good enough motivation to get me going though only from June on !

Hey! I'm all for no rush as long as it gets done before we expire. I'm content to know it's in process, as long as I know it's in process. I hope you can at least ponder it until June arrives, maybe come up with improvements.
Anybody who is working on it should give some kind of updates, even if it's to say something came up, just so we don't have to prod anybody for one, unless prodding is the only motivator.:sly:
Yeah, us hardcore-types are never NOT interested, but we've taken it as far as we've been able, and passed it on to those who can take it into the next phase.

Yeah, umm, about that "next phase"...
You guys heard of GIS? Would that be considered too.. I dunno, freaky? Hardcore? Nerdy? No-life? ;)
(Just waiting for the release of (
http://mapdiva.com/index.htm) this puppy.)

As long as it gets closer to done, we'll take whatever you artiste's can dish out!
If it's easy and intuitive, yet with a wide variety of options for basic to advanced tools, then hell yeah!

I know it's a lot to ask, but would it be possible to get links to show the map's progression up to this point?

Hmm... so Thief 4 has officially been announced.
I wonder what effect, if any, it will have on the work we're doing here...

If it looks like they did their homework, if we even see any overview map, we can adapt. When we stop tripping over ourselves, we should keep moving ahead for the next year/year-and-a-half. This is another confirmation for floating layers for ease of editing. For now, at least, as long as the city sections can be clipped cleanly from our current locations, we're fine. Yeah, let's not stop. Let's do it for the LGS trilogy, alone, until we see what EM gives us.
