Mapping out The City. - by Digital Nightfall

I've finally gotten around to updating the interactive map I created two years ago. In fact, I decided to rewrite the whole thing using Leaflet, which I've found to be a lot more approachable and user-friendly than OpenLayers. Plus, I only needed about half as many lines of code! :)

Follow the link, click the download button, and open the file in a web browser.
~~CHANGE LIST (v2)~~
+ Now uses the Leaflet scripting library instead of OpenLayers
+ The map is now fullscreen
+ The description and links have been moved to a popup (click the info button below the base map)
+ Hovering over a district now displays that district's name
- Removed the opacity sliders (if only because I couldn't find a way to add them back in)
Potential ideas for future updates:
* Markers that denote important landmarks (Lord Bafford's Manor, Angelwatch, Fort Ironwood, etc.)
* Reimplement the opacity sliders, if possible (not mandatory, but just for fun)
* Anything else you guys would like to see / whatever else I can think of

Thanks for doing this, Grandmauden! I'll get the HTML uploaded this evening and will post a link here so folks can view an online version as well. I actually used your map a few years ago when planning the direction in which the player enters and exits different missions in my upcoming campaign so it made sense (e.g., leave Dayport headed north to go to Auldale).

And I also put it here: (

Have you considered putting tooltips for the Missions layer which just gave the name of the OM, like you have with the Districts layer? In addition to the landmarks, I guess.

Thanks, Yandros and Brethren!
@Yandros: I did try that, but because the mission maps are static images instead of interactive markers or shapes, Leaflet wouldn't let me use the .bindTooltip() function on them. I suppose I could look into adding hover event listeners to the missions layer, or if that fails, "faking" it by adding tooltips to invisible polygons drawn around each OM.

Updated the interactive map. The link to my Google Drive above now points to the new version, and I've contacted Yandros and Brethren, so their mirrors should also be updated shortly.
~~CHANGE LIST (v2.1)~~
+ Clicking a mission map now displays a popup naming which OMs take place there
+ New landmarks layer; click on an icon to display the name of that location (or a conjectural name, if no official name was given)
+ More icons are visible as you zoom in
+ With landmarks active, click the "Legend" button in the bottom-right to view the map legend
Did I go overboard with adding icons? Maybe, maybe not. I just like to be thorough. :thumb:

Just wanted to thank you immensely Grandmauden for the landmarks layer, as well as the OM popups. Your timing is perfect actually with the T1 Anniversary Contest being announced yesterday. My plans involve several OM areas and this will be greatly useful in planning things.

You're welcome! :) Glad to know I can be of help.
Though, of course, this interactive map wouldn't exist in the first place without all the detective work by Doc_Brown, Sxerks, str8g8, Mugla, and everyone else who pieced the City map together over the years.
