This is maybe something of an unusual combination, and one that I'm very interested in, so I thought I'd open a thread to ask for some recommendations.
My idea of a maritime FM is anything with a strong connection to the sea. Ship missions are good contenders, and so are coastal residences or settlements, of which Eclipsed is an example. I'm not so much after pirate missions though.
A 'pioneers themed' mission is one where the inhabitants are scratching out a living in a remote location, having travelled there from afar not so long ago. The perfect match would be a recreation of Jamestown.
I'm interested in both themes separately so they don't both have to be present at the same time, but it would be interesting if there are FMs that represent both.
Here's a list I made of characteristics that could help identify the kinds of missions I'm after:
- whale hunters
- high proportion of paraffin lamps and lanterns
- lighthouse
- ship wheels and fishing nets as wall decoration
- explorers who've kept detailed logbooks with sketches of their journeys
- trade in pelts
- drunken sailors in pubs
- confrontations with the natives
- covered wagons
- eerie ghost tales about the untamed wilderness

I'm sure there are many, many more than I can think of off the top of my head, but here are a few to start with:
Into the Maelsrom by Morrgan
The Last Lighthouse Keeper by Eternauta
Turn of the Tide by Madwolf
Sturmdrang Peak by nicked
Keeper Investigations by intruder
The Curse of the Skull Goblet by FireMage
Heartcliff Islands by Qolelis
Also, check out the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144797) Fan Mission Listing by Type thread, which is stickied at the top of the Fan Missions forum. For example, there is a (

I'll add more as I think of them.

Stowaway for Thief2 (June 2000)
You start in a ship. At least you have a ship in a small dock.
Coastal small village.
Daytime mission.
Location reminds of me of northern Africa or Middle East.

Pirates Ahoy by Christine.

Thanks for all these suggestions, and also for pointing me to the FM listing. My excuses, though, because my request turned out rather generic.
What I actually wanted to ask is if there are missions which take place specifically in the New World? This can take many forms (and FM listing categories): inland or coastal, tropical or arctic circle, fishing village or merchant town, early or late era.
I simply find that aspect of history fascinating, so I'd be curious to see if the New World has been taken up in the Thief community.

By "New World", I assume you mean our New World (i.e. North, Central and South America). You do realize that the Thief universe is not ours, right? So you aren't going to find missions that take place in our New World.

Of course - any mission should have a Thief spin to it instead of being an exact copy of our world. Sometimes when people push the boundaries of the Thief universe they seem to use mostly our world as inspiration, like in Lost Crusade, Rose Cottage, Dracula, so I'm wondering if there's something like this for the New World as well.
To me a village seems that much more isolated if the briefing says it's somewhere in a savage unexplored land mass. Quite a few missions fit this mould, and sure, I'll take Pirates Ahoy onto the list for its Caribbean-like islands. Also, several of the missions suggested so far look like they have that special atmosphere of a settlement that must depend on itself, like Heartcliff Islands.

Ah, okay, I see what you mean. I'll give it some thought.
