What an awesome mission! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
I voted for Yandros at that time, but if this one was released in time for the 4th contest, I don't really know....it would have been hard to make a choice.
Anyway, if Poe could play it, I'm sure you would have his blessing. :)

I did this mission out of order the first time. I ventured into the graveyard before I even stepped foot in the Black Room. And then I killed the Red Death and blasted open the door and ran into a dead end, wondering how to get past it before realizing this is where the mission is supposed to end, and I haven't finished my objectives yet. :weird:
So I just finished replaying the mission to get the proper sequence down, and just because it's a great FM (found all the loot and secrets this time). Then I noticed something I didn't even look at the first time around : In the Blue Room there is a painting on the wall. It's Greg Martin's "In the Shadow of the Stars." :wot: I love his work! :laff: It was a very pleasant surprise, and only serves to deepen my appreciation of this mission.
Thanks again raetsel! :thumb:

heh - well, i didn't get the sounds from another fm, i'm positive of that :p all those names are regular thief sound files - i just wrote over them with different stuff (lord alan's basement has only one custom sound file - so don't know about that - if they used the m04ring and etc - they were used as the regular thief sounds). like... machlg08 & 09 are regularly really noisy machine noises.
@Spyrano : ha! i knew there'd be something that beta-testing would have done good for :) i'll have to fix that - thought i'd had the red death teleporting - forgot i'd changed it (leaving something alone for a year can do that to your brain) :) (thanks)

Hi all, its been a taffing long time since i posted, RL can creep up behind ya and strangle the heck outta ya.
anyway im stuck, when the red death gas comes i go in that lil trap door but i dont know whut to do next, i got the goods from the chest and the water arrows but i cant get out b/c the barrel is blocking me, a lil help please? thanks in advance
bobber on 3/3/2004 at 01:11
Well,
you can smash the barrel with your sword!
Old Man on 3/3/2004 at 09:05
Actually, you can smash the barrel with your blackjack so you don't have to wait until Prospero goes through his little scene. I tried a few times to see if I could get rid of Red Death quickly enough to keep the party guests conscious.
Great mission!!!
The dancing, the music! What a party! :)
Until everyone died that is. ;)
A couple of questions:
Is some of the music from "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies. It sounds so familiar.
Is everyone supposed to die? I got a failed mission a couple of times right after the Red Death happens. Then for some reason I didn't and was able to finish the mission but with the no killing objective marked with the red slash.
Thanks!

15 megs for a contest sized FM?
I see FM bloat is still going strong.

not that i know of - i'm pretty sure it's not - i just can't remember what song i clipped those tension-ish pieces off from - when i find it, i'll post it
as for your other question - not sure how you failed an objective -
they are pretty much supposed to die, yes - the one girl sometimes lives & benny lasts a bit longer than most too
the red slash through an objective just means that objective no longer applies
@tumbleweed: yes, custom stuff takes room :p
edit: by the way, i uploaded another version to epithumia that fixes the problem Spyrano had

ty Oldman and bobber :)
this mission is spectacular! I love Edgar Allan Poe, my favorite of his works is the Tell Tale Heart, The Raven, and The Fall of the House of Usher.
loved the dancing, the music, the effects, everything!
i didnt find any of the secrets, could someone give me a friendly push as to them?
and also what were the functions of the wine goblets that go in your inventory?
