Okay, it's official. The people making this film obviously have no idea what they are doing. Mila Kunis is about the very last person I would chose for that role.

To play Max he needs two : Sneering and slightly more sneering while shooting

Thing about Max Payne is 'cuz Sam Lake isn't the model for the 2nd game the expressions turn out vastly different.

Max Payne 1: "I've got constipation."
Max Payne 2: "I've got cancer."

Regardless, Wally is a rubbish choice. I'd have gone with Mickey Rourke before the hideousising process (though Sin City showed what some good make-up/prosthetics can do), and the choice of Mona is poor too - Carrie-Anne Moss would have been perfect.
