THIEF THE DARK PROJECTCutty made Garrett this deal,
"To get rich this time you won't fail!"
But the plan it fell through,
There was nothing to do,
But help Cutty get out of jail.
So Garrett stole into Cragscleft,
Only to be quite bereft,
For old Cutty died,
While he was inside,
And Garrett had no options left.
So Garrett went down in Bonehoard,
Where Quintus' horn had been stored,
He found it up high,
And I'll not deny,
He found Burricks and Zombies galore.
Ramirez desired Garrett dead.
And offered a price for his head.
He sent killers two,
An assignment they blew,
And Ramirez paid Garrett instead.
Said Constantine, "Come work for me,
I'll pay you a fabulous fee."
So Garrett said swell,
And did the job well,
Not knowing what soon was to be.
"Now that you've passed the test,
I see that you're truly the best.
I would really adore,
You to do one thing more,
Just a small venturesome quest."
"Get me the EYE that was lost,
No matter what! I'll pay the cost.
And keep you the sword,
For you have my word,
It'll help you with ghosts you accost."
Garrett, he did that one too.
I won't tell you what hell he went through,
Suffice it to say
He had a bad day,
And, in the end, he got screwed.
The EYE whispered in Garretts ear,
“Fool! You cannot enter here,
You need talisman's four,
To open the door,
That, ne'er you will have I do fear."
The Grotto was not hard to find,
The Keepers left plenty behind.
The gate and the door,
Were just a bit more
Work for a Keeper trained mind.
A talisman he found inside,
With directions where others reside,
It gave him a start,
At least he had part,
Of the answer that he was denied.
The city, once lost, Garrett found,
With feelings both deep and profound,
For Keepers had died,
Thier secrets to hide,
Buried quite deep in the ground.
Of keys that would open the door.
He needed to get just one more
The Hammers the last,
Had locked up quite fast.
Garrett had three of the four.
The Hammers did not miss a trick,
Security was tight and thick,
Garrett was smart,
And played a great part,
With an intro that worked really slick.
Wind and Earth, Water and Fire,
Opened to Garrett's desire,
The EYE he would hold,
And Constantines gold,
Would let him relax and retire.
The EYE he brought back for his pay,
For Constantine brooked no delay.
Garrett gave into greed,
When he did the deed,
And ended up rueing the day,
An Eye for the EYE was the game,
Victoria borrowed the same.
When she left him one-eyed
He was truly surprised,
To find she was part of the frame.
He woke up in Constantine's lair,
And knew that he had to beware,
Of spiders and rats,
And foul things like that,
While escaping them all with great care.
So Garrett slithered and crawled,
And on occasion was mauled,
Weak and abused,
From the way he was used,
He felt like he'd been keel-hauled.
He finally won his way through,
Fruit that he found made him new.
He knew that the man,
Had a demonic plan,
And swore that he'd ruin that too.
So back to the Hammers he went
For help; and he said he'd repent,
But he got there too late,
Such was his fate,
The veil in the temple had been rent.
The Hammers were in disarray,
The High Priest was stolen away,
“Help us Garrett,” they said,
“And if he's not dead.
“We'll help in your battle someday.”
Garrett accomplished the quest,
By doing what Garrett does best.
He killed all the bugs,
And did in some mugs,
And brought back the Priest as his guest.
The Keepers said we have a plan,
To defeat this devious man,
You use a fake eye,
The Trickster will die,
At least that's the thing that we plan.
Garrett went into the Maw,
Where Chaos was the only law,
With his Phoney jewel
The Trickster to fool,
By being the Keeper's Catspaw.
Constantine's black magic spell,
Was moving along very well,
But he didn't spy,
Garrett remove the eye,
And ritualed himself into hell.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With apologies to Beowulf of Nordic fame.
Thief ll The Metal AgeThe Trickster took Garrett's eye,
For a spell that he wanted to try.
But the Keepers were cool,
And the Trickster did fool,
So the ritual caused him to die.
The Keepers the EYE hid away,
As they had once before legends say,
To keep it from Man,
Was part of thier plan,
So its power could never hold sway.
The Hammers were in disarray,
Their power had fallen away.
Their temples were broken,
Thier remnants a token,
Of the Rule that had reigned in their day.
The Keepers thought Garrett the key,
To the future and Eternity.
Their books told it all,
The rise and the fall,
The past and of all that would be.
The Mechanists came into power,
With Karras the man of the hour.
Whose ultimate plan,
Was to kill everyman,
And all of the fauna and flower.
In hopes of his favor to buy,
Karras gave Garrett an eye.
To use as he will,
To augment his skill,
And the Hammerite priests to defy.
Garrett was nobody's fool,
He would not be Karras's tool.
The Keepers denied,
The Hammers defied.
He wanted his own fate to rule.
Basso loved sweet Jenniviere,
Her mistress was truly severe.
Jenneviere was locked in,
Garrett gave a big grin;
For Basso the way he did clear.
The warehouse was loaded with loot,
And Davidson's Spices to boot,
Mechanical doors,
On all of the floors,
Made picklocks a little bit moot.
Garrett needed the code,
To get them he must be quite bold.
So Garrett got in;
The wheels he did spin,
To take all the jewels and the gold.
Garrett then took on a job,
This time it was not to rob.
But to set up a frame,
On one Hagen by name,
One of the City Watch Mob.
"Get Hagen out of my face!
Remove him without any trace!
I'll pay you quite well,
If you give Hagen hell,
And have him discharged in disgrace."
A contact set up a date,
To meet at the Burrick quite late,
The ambush was sly,
But Garrett was spry,
Escaping through old Shalesbridge gate.
Truart went Karras to meet,
Trying to be so discrete.
Karras contrived,
When Truart he bribed,
And what Garrett heard was a treat.
In the Bank the recording was kept,
The security proved most inept.
To get the recording,
That Karras was hoarding,
Silently, in Garrett crept.
The plan was to Blackmail Truart.
The recording would help with that part.
When Garrett got there instead,
He found Truart dead.
A knife was thrust into his heart.
Conspiracy was not Truart's treat,
And so he became just dead meat.
With him laid to rest,
The City Guards best,
Was Mosley, a spy and a cheat.
Mosley applauded the news,
Which prompted her somewhat to muse.
In a note she revealed,
The plot, once concealed,
And Garrett discovered the ruse.
The missive was passed hand to hand,
With Garrett behind as he planned.
To find out just who,
The letter was to,
And leading the small Rebel band.
Karras had set up a snare.
At the Graveyard awaited a pair
Of Mechanist men,
Who hoped, in the end,
The courier to take unaware.
An arrow was swift in its flight,
The courier felt the sharp bite.
The blood that he shed,
Left traces of red,
As the Pagan fled into the night.
Into the dark of the trees,
The droplets of blood did not cease.
Mushrooms gave light,
To help in the night,
Garrett followed the trail with ease.
Pagan bodies were scattered around,
The Mechs had killed all that they found,
The guards, very brave,
Slew women and babes,
And left them to rot on the ground,
The Pagans resistance was slight,
They were not inclined to fight.
Except for a few,
Of the Mechanist crew,
No-one lived to meet Garrett's sight.
Spirits and Ghosts told a tale,
Of murder, of grief, and betrayal.
Garrett took heed,
Of the clues he would need,
To follow the couriers trail.
The Ghost of a child spoke too,
Take my doll, Dewdrop, with you.
He doesn't like Mechs,
And does special effects.
He'll be a great comfort to you,
The blood trail led Garrett below,
The jewels made the Idol mouth glow.
Garrett jumped through,
That portal too,
To find where the letter would go.
A field of stange living eyes,
Hidden away from the skies,
Are what Garrett found,
Deep underground,
Watching as he passed them by.
Apemen were guarding the town,
Where more notes from Mosley were found,
Garrett slipped through,
Avoiding the crew,
Of Apemen patrolling around.
The courier Garrett found dead,
The lifes blood within him had fled.
With no one to guide,
And nowhere to hide,
Garrett found foes there to dread.
The Oak tree bore fruit for the crow,
Garretts suspicions did grow.
Victoria came,
And called him by name,
Telling him things he should know.
Victoria was Queen of the Wood,
Together with Garrett she would,
Help as she can,
To thwart Karras's plan,
For she knew he was up to no good.
Insane is too mild a phrase,
To describe Karras in his final craze.
"Servants for free!"
He chortled in glee,
His mind in a feverish daze.
The Mechanist's temple of steel,
Had a most ominous feel,
Angelwatch loomed,
O'er all Karras doomed,
Hiding secrets that Garrett must steal.
Garrett o'er the rooftops did glide,
Past Benny to scramble inside.
He saw Vilnia there,
In Karras's lair.
And lifted the key from her side.
Documents pointed the way,
To an Island where Karras held sway,
Where Cavador's skill,
Made a gas that would kill,
And cause all of life to decay.
The island, not far out to sea,
Held a secret and mayhap a key,
That Garrett could use,
Karras to abuse,
And bring down in ignominy.
Tortured and freezing to death,
Lotus used his last breath,
Cavador to reveal,
And to make an appeal.
Garrett honored his final request.
Garrett went down 'neath the sea,
Where only the fishes should be,
Deep in the rocks,
Beside secret docks,
Cetus Amicus floats free.
"As cargo, I'll wait for a ride,"
Said Garrett, hiding inside.
"I'll just have to wait,
'Til they open the gate,
And sail away on the tide."
The end of the voyage came at night,
With stealth, Garrett entered the site.
The guards that he found,
He easily went 'round,
By staying away from the light.
Secrets from deep in the earth,
Were more than a man's life was worth,
With the Precursors gone,
Cavador alone,
Had the skill to give them rebirth.
There must not be any delay,
In spiriting Cavador away,
From Karras's crew,
And preventing the brew,
From use in an Auto-de-fe.
Gevasious came to surmise,
That the Precusor masks were a Prize.
"My Ego to grow,
"I'll I let everyone know,
And watch envy shine in their eyes."
"I'll have an art show and a ball,
To which I shall invite all,
Of the uppercrust;
The Rothchild's if I must,
And show off the Masks in the Hall.
With Watchers and Warbots and Guards,
Getting the Masks maybe hard.
"By hook or by crook,"
Said Garrett,"I'll look,
And scope out the mansion and yard."
The evening before the Grand Fete,
Garrett slipped in, so silent and fleet.
He bypassed the traps,
Because of his maps,
And planned his escape to the street.
To the Galleries upstairs he flew,
By the hidden staircase that he knew.
He turned off the gas.
Made off with the Masks;
Embarassing Gervasious too.
The cultivator made Garrett frown,
We've got to bring Karras down.
So he can't deploy,
His Mechanist toy,
And kill all the people in town.
The wealthy embraced the new fad,
Not knowing that Karras was Mad.
The Servants they prized;
Karras smiled and lied.
And gifted them all that he had.
Karras, now stark raving Mad,
Lived in a room that he had.
Awaiting it seems,
The God of his dreams,
Unaware that his plans had gone bad.
By new scriptures that Karras had used,
The Mechanist priests were confused
They found it quite plain,
That the power he did gain,
Their tenets had greatly abused.
Victoria was highly enraged,
And Soulforge in battle engaged.
Her attack premature,
Karras killed her.
She died like a rat in a cage.
To Soulforge Garrett came late,
Victoria had gone to her fate.
Karras had won,
And had smugly begun,
Garrett to tease and berate.
Boasting caused Karras's fall,
Garrett discovered it all;
The plans and the means,
To upset Karras's dreams,
And all of the Servants recall.
Messages Garrett had read,
Caused him, quite frankly, some dread.
His first active thought,
Was to derail the plot,
The next was to see Karras dead.
The signals he changed at the towers,
A feat that took him some hours,
With stealth and deceit,
The Warbots he beat,
In spite of all Karras's powers.
With parts that the storerooms contained,
And plans that Garrett had obtained,
The beacon to build;
Slot B to be filled;
Were the only two tasks that remained.
With pieces from here and from there,
The Beacon was built with great care.
"Now let me see...
Where's that Beacon slot 'B'?
It's time to end this affair."
The Beacon successfully seated,
Would ensure that Karras was defeated,
The parts melded well,
And Garrett could tell,
Due Justice would truly be meted.
Back to the North Apse we go,
Dodging a bit to and fro.
Plug the thing in-
Take time for a grin-
And head for the exit below.
The towers are all switched around,
The Beacon is all set to sound
The Sevants recall,
The Mechanist's downfall,
And Karras's screams to resound.
Garrett heads back to the street,
Hoping no danger to meet.
Out through the gate,
Almost too late,
As Karras goes down in defeat.
