Play the games...

Pretty much. You don't need to know the plot to play the games, in fact you'll get more enjoyment out of them the first time if you don't know, and by the end of playing them you'll know as much about the plot as we do.

Yeah, theBlackman did an excellent job of out lining the fact that the plot and the gameplay are two pieces of the same excellent artwork. By portraying the plot of T:TDP and T:MA in classic (?what would be the technical term for such construction, any of you literary type care to elucidate for me?) verse he has succeeded in emphasises the need for the story to be related through a work of art.
In other words, play the game! In the dark, with an eax sound card and head phones, watching all the cut scenes and intro movies, and reading as much in-game text as possible.

that very long poem wasn't very helpful. I still don't know what's going on. I just want the basics.
The two Wikipedia links take you to a description. Did you even look at them?

I thought it was very well done. Very passionate about the game. For me, it also helps that the poems are about something I already love.
It was fun to relive the memories of the first two through the mind of theBlackman.

Each verse is a limerick.

Yeah, play the games. You can pick them up fairly cheap now in most good game stores. I saw thief II on sale for €5.99 the other day. I felt like complaining to the manager that this price was an INSULT to the game!
Anyway, play the games -- you’re in for a treat!
