**spoiler**
You can save Paul AND save all your ammo for the prison escape. After you finish talking to Paul and the bad guys are coming through the door, step to the nearest wall and blow yourself up with a rocket.

< spoiler warning >
The whole braching plotline is not as good as it sounds. The npc's that live or die have no effect on the plotline. Sure you can save Paul, etc., but it doesn't make a lick of difference to the story. The gamemakers could have really done something by making these choices advanced you an alternate region of the story or really impact the future goals( alternate goals), but you always end up in the same place having to do the same things ( except the end).

Salut.

Well, Cassandra, of course.
(Ducks).
Wait for the mods, I say. There's a handful of single-player mods which seem to get the point, and hopefully will be worth playing. Some riff off the original ideas of Deus Ex too closely, but there's some which could be generally brilliant.
Here's hoping, anyway.
