As I listened about Helios explaining the human need for superiors, I started thinking of one thing: humans always turn to God or something equivalent more at times of peril, such as wars and plagues. At the end of Deus Ex, the world was in great turmoil, and Helios seemed bent on fixing that, and this seems to be one thing that gives him(?) great power. But had he finally made things OK, wouldn't humans need him less, and thus he would have less power?

Perhaps the maintaining of this utopia will require Helios. Indeed, I do not believe that the AI would allow itself to become redundant, having reached the position of god.

I am pretty sure it can't become obsolete, it's running the world afterall... it's Helios' own decision if it would become redundant, maybe by creating it's successor.
