I dunno, if they could hit a note between the simulation that is ARMA 2 and the more arcade-style Call of Duty series it might be alright.
I mean, they're gonna have to do something to differentiate it from Activision's franchise, right?

I guess it will be different from CODMW2, because it won't feature America being invaded by Russian forces using Israeli weapons ... so it will be realistic because of that, and also because it'll take place A'stan, but otherwise probably the same as before.

Is MW2 really any worse than Airborne, where in the last level you assaulted a Nazi Flaktower "Fortress of Doom" and fought elite gasmask-wearing Nazi stormtroopers who were armed with dismounted MG42's?
Malleus on 14/12/2009 at 11:42
I don't know, I haven't played Airborne (sounds about as bad though), but since this one features a present day setting, everyone will compare it to CODMW2 anyway.

The Medal of Honour games where always a bit Hollywood/big action. I'd expect no less from MoH:Modern Shooty.
I'm just trying to work out how their gonna add modern nazis.

You mean President Obama With Nunchaku And Sunglasses Doing A Variant Heelflip Out Of A Burning Helicopter With Shark In The Background route.
So it's basically Metal Wolf Chaos without the mecha?

Agreed.
Right now, it certainly looks a bit too similar to a certain other franchise. (Green night vision scene with laser sights on everyone's weapon all of a sudden that presumably weren't there with the NVGs off? WW2 FPS franchise going into the modern day? Now where have I seen all of that before?) However, that's not really gameplay footage, where this game can really set itself apart.
But going by the general Hollywood action flick feel of the trailer, it's safe to say that this probably won't be near OFP:DR on the realism scale, let alone the original OFP and ArmA. What I don't know, though, is exactly where it would fall in relation to CoD.

Yes:

The AN/PEQ-2 has two infrared laser emitters—one narrow beam used for aiming the rifle, and one wide beam used for illuminating targets, like a flashlight.
The beams can only be seen through night vision goggles.
