Can I request that people stop putting ATVs/snowmobiles in their fucking war games?
It just looks stupid.

There's dual narratives:- the first features the US Army Rangers, the latter is of some elite special ops outfit called "Tier 1". The setting is modern day Afghanistan.
EDIT: Leaning confirmed. ((

The army has explained to Eurogamer that Medal of Honor's Tier 1 soldiers really are the best of the best, and "take on missions that no one else can handle".
"The Tier concept originates from Hostage Rescue Ability and has mutated to include all kinds of stuff. Around 1995 it was based on the amount of time a unit spent conducting Hostage Rescue and Direct Action. The Tier 1 teams would only do this sort of operation," relayed a source, unearthed by former British army Major Neil Powell.
"Standard" Tier 2 teams were made up of SEAL, MARSOC (United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command), SF (Special Forces) and Ranger forces. Tier 1 was reserved for JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) and FBI HRT (Hostage Rescue Team) soldiers.
"Support personnel such as counter intelligence and intelligence are not Tier anything," the source added, probably hurting their feelings.
Tier 1 soldiers, as we mentioned earlier, answer to the National Command Authority. This is a term used by the US military and government to refer to the ultimate lawful source of military orders - the top of the chain. Up there the President and the Secretary of Defense call the shots and Jack Bauer answers.
Announced this week, EA's new Medal of Honor puts players in the sandpaper-lined boots of a Tier 1 soldier as they operate in Afghanistan.
Blah, blah, blah, point to point "homage" of CoD4.

Thanks, EvaUnit02. I appreciate the heads-up on the trailer.

When is this out again?
(I've been away for months from this wonderful place. So pretty now.)

"We are experts in the application of violence."
Made me lol. Like all the other stuff I've heard about that game. The sad thing is I'd probably have fun playing it... :P. But at a friend's house. No way am I encouraging this :P.

(

My impressions of the MP Beta:-
Lemme see, it feels like DICE made a cheap Battlefield: Bad Company 2 mod, by stripped away everything that was great about that game and tried to turn it into a CoD4 clone. In the objective-based mode Combat Mission, there's absolutely no structure to teamwork, it's a scattered mess. There's no destruction and the soundwork is utterly lacklustre.
EA LA's Single Player component has leaning, prone and at least some destruction (likely nowhere near as extensive as in Bad Company 2 though) . DICE's MP has none of these.
Worthy of praise though is:-
* The technical optimisation (it runs like a dream)
* Marvellous netcode (virtually no noticeable lag when playing on 200+ ping US).
* Effort for some authenticity. Eg Americans and Taliban have unique sets of weapons, a la Counter-Strike. Americans have their AR15 derivative rifles, Taliban use Kalashnikov derivatives.
They've actually addressed most complaints of their direct competitor, Modern Warfare 2.
* No perks, you only unlock new guns and attachments.
* No over-powered, cheap as hell killstreaks, like helicopter gunships, AC130 and nukes. Just mortar strike and rocket strike.
* Explosions have been nerfed into the ground, they have no splash damage. Obvious emphasis on actually killing people with bullets rather than with rifle nades.
* It's definitely not as camper friendly as CoD. Depending on the side you're playing as, you have C4 or IEDs that have to be activated manually, they aren't motion sensitive like the claymores in CoD.
In the end though, the bad points of the game over-shadow the good by quite a margin. This game is absolutely not worth buying solely for the MP component.

And really, who ever buys games for the multiplayer? I can't stand playing online. I tried MW2 online maybe a couple of times, and it was just boring running around.
Single player all the way!

Despite my largely having given up on multiplayer, that is the most staggeringly ignorant thing I've heard all day.
