Merry Christmas/(insert belief-system-appropriate celebration here) everybody!
No gifts this year, but then again we dropped that a long while back. Had some great food with almost every kind of meat imaginable with friends, slugged back more wine than I've had in years, missed church like a heathen, mercilessly ribbed people and was ribbed back just as mercilessly, reminisced, and generally had a pleasantly merry ol' day. Hope y'all had/are having a great Christmas too.

That looks a lot like polish Chalka
Which, in turn, looks like finnish pullapitko!

The Christmas menu was very traditional - ham, casseroles (carrot, potato and turnip), mushroom salad, smoked salmon, gingerbreads etc. I also got lots of presents: Koss PortaPro earphones, SatC 2 DVD, Italian dictionary, the Finlandia-prize winning novel
Cabin number 6, lots of chocolate and a bottle of bubbly :D
Merry christmas to all ttlg'ers! :)

I'm fairly indifferent to begin with, but chrissy cheer is difficult to maintain while in retail, I find. By the time the actual thing rolls around you're saying to yourself "boy, I could really use a holiday from christmas".
Post is generally better. It's mostly the same stuff around, only now heavily discounted! (particularly un-sold panettones hooo baby.)

Had nearly 20 people over for Christmas... was a fair bit of effort getting set up and having the house ready but was a worthwhile day. The rain managed to hold off so it was a nice day and most had a dip in the pool to cool off. :)
We did two turkeys with roast taters (despite the heat) although I have to admit that menu looks fantastic Piggeh... got some recipes to share?
Got a voucher for a cooking school course, some clothes, a recipe book and I'm going to buy myself LA Noire or Batman today...

the salt and pepper prawns were the hit of the day, remarkably easy too. Just take dried chilis, black peppercorns, sechuan peppercorns and sea salt, then roast them all on a low heat until golden brownish. Crush into a powder then mix with some tempura flour. Dredge the prawns in the flour mix then deep fry in peanut oil until just crispy.
I used a mayo dip which was just japanese style mayo, lime juice, sweet chili sauce and some chopped coriander leaves.

Wunderbar! Now how about those indonesian style satay chickens? :D
edit: bought both Noire (cheapo pre-owned!) and Batman, now it feels like Christmas!

unfortunately another family member made those, so the recipe remains a mystery.

I got a PS/2 wired ball mouse with a scrolling wheel and three buttons.
Best present ever.

Spent serious quality time with the family both Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. Feasted past the point of gluttony, sang carols til my throat was sore (scary, because I really can't carry a tune), laughed til my sides hurt as I watched the children running around with bad cases of the Christmas crazies, and hugged until I thought my arms would fall off. And I absolutely loved every minute of it!
Now where's the damned Alka Seltzer?!
