After solving the numerous problems of compatibility, I was able to start and run Thief 2 on the laptop, but now I am faced with a serious graphics problem that I can play.
The dark areas of the game are completely black, can not see anything! It is not a problem of GAMMA, because putting up does not change.
I tried all sorts of compatibility mode to Windows, with all possible resolutions, but the result does not change. In game graphics options I can choose only "primary video driver.
This is my configuration:
Acer Aspire 6930Z
Windows Vista :tsktsk: SP1
NVIDEA GeForce 9600M GS (driver updated)
Does anyone know how I can fix?

Have you installed DDFix?

I used to have that problem when running the game on my old computer.
Definitely give DDFix a shot.
I know you said it isn't a gamma issue, but you might try messing with the 'Cam.cfg' file in the Thief 2 folder just to get a better look at the issue. It should say something like 'gamma= .5" or whatever. Change that number to be smaller. (Example: gamma= .35 or gamma= .4) which allows you to play on even higher gamma settings than the game traditionally allows.

Stupid Question: So, uh, what helped? Setting the gamma, or DDFIX?
